The film has been selected for Locarno\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2025\/film\/global\/canada-locarno-first-look-genevieve-dulude-de-celles-1236481522\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">First Look<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tIn the film, a viral video of an eight-year-old Bulgarian girl, a painting prodigy, is circulating online. The phenomenon catches the attention of a collector eager to acquire her work. Mihail is sent to assess the value of the young girl\u2019s paintings. But in order to do it, he must return to his home country for the first time in nearly 30 years \u2013 and face the ghosts of his past.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tCurrently in post-production, it will premiere in early 2026. Dulude-De Celles has previously won Berlinale\u2019s Crystal Bear for debut feature \u201cA Colony,\u201d while her short \u201cThe Cut\u201d was awarded at Sundance.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cI made this film to give life to a gallery of colorful characters from various inspirations, to talk about the fragile feeling of belonging, that of finding a home,\u201d said the director, explaining that \u201cNina Roza\u201d proposes a journey \u201cbetween Montreal and Bulgaria, traced by an intimate, initiatory quest\u2026 That of Mihail, a sexagenarian who will have to face his past through Nina.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tThe cast consists of up-and coming talent from Canada, Bulgaria and Italy, including Galin Stoev, Ekatarina and Sofia Stanina, Chiara Caselli (\u201cRipley\u2019s Game\u201d), Christian Begin (\u201cThe Infiltration Problem\u201d) and Michelle Tzontchev. Crew includes editor Damien Keyeux and DOP Alexandre Nour.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\t\u201cNina Roza\u201d \u2013 which also debuts its exclusive first-look still \u2013 marks Dulude-De Celles\u2019 fifth collaboration with Canada\u2019s Colonelle films and second with Best Friend Forever.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ lrv-u-margin-lr-auto  lrv-a-font-body-m   \">\n\tMartin Gondre and Charles Bin, Best Friend Forever co-founder, noted: \u201cGenevieve\u2019s debut, \u2018A Colony\u2019 was the BFF\u2019s first ever title and success. We\u2019re thrilled to team up again. The film unfolds as an investigation exploring the contemporary art world while raising self-identification elements.
