The following classic rock songs were written about real-life people. And unless you’re a diehard fan of these bands and musicians, you might not know the real stories behind these songs. Let’s take a look, shall we?

            “Talk Tonight” by Oasis

There’s quite a bit of lore behind this Oasis song. “Talk Tonight” was written by Noel Gallagher about a woman named Melissa Lim. Following Oasis’ really rough show at Whisky A Go Go, Noel ran off to San Francisco to recuperate, reconnect with a former acquaintance, and think about whether he should quit Oasis for good. Lim convinced him to leave her and keep pursuing a future with the band. He penned “Talk Tonight” as an ode and a thank-you to her. Honestly, she might be the reason why Oasis lasted as long as they did.

“Tearjerker” by Red Hot Chili Peppers

This Red Hot Chili Peppers tune was written about the late great Kurt Cobain of Nirvana. “Tearjerker” came about after RHCP themselves had lost their guitarist figuratively, as he left the band to pursue a solo career. This song is really heartbreaking once you know the context.

“To Live Is To Die” by Metallica

This sad song was written about Cliff Burton, one of Metallica’s most famous bassists. He was with the band for four years until he was tragically killed in a tour bus accident in 1986. He was only 24 years old. Metallica carried on with a new bassist, but the loss of their friend was still weighing on them when the time came to cut a new record. “To Live Is To Die” was not only written for Burton, but also features lyrics and a bassline medley written by him before his death.

“Tangled Up In Blue” by Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan has always been famously mysterious about what his songs are really about. However, “Tangled Up In Blue” is very obviously about his ex-wife, Sara. The whole of Blood On The Tracks is more or less about their breakup, but “Tangled Up In Blue” is probably the most direct reference to their relationship and eventual falling-out. Though, plenty of fans believe that this entry on our list of songs about real-life people might include a mix of truth and myth.

So many things can inspire a musician, but actual living, breathing people seem to inspire songs the most.…

[29
976,171,975,67,132,68
0":"post-135339","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-music","8":"tag-classic-rock","9":"tag-entertainment","10":"tag-music","11":"tag-united-states","12":"tag-unitedstates","13":"tag-us
["GET
