A 25-year-old man is in serious condition after receiving an electric shock on the PATH tracks in Hoboken early Sunday while attempting to retrieve his dropped phone, authorities said.<\/p>\n
The man came into contact with the third rail, which carries high-voltage electricity to power the trains, as he tried to retrieve his phone. He unconscious on the tracks when Port Authority police arrived at 1:55 a.m., the agency said in a statement. <\/p>\n
Power to the third rail was shut off. The victim was removed from the tracks, stabilized, and brought to an area hospital. He is in serious but stable condition.<\/p>\n
Normal service at the station resumed at about 4 a.m.<\/p>\n
The incident remains under investigation. <\/p>\n
