The latest incident adds to a troubling pattern of gun-related accidents involving children, prompting urgent calls for safer firearm storage.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Local gun safety expert Rod Mills said these tragedies are often preventable \u2014 if gun owners take the right precautions.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/live-breaking\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/live-breaking\/\" target=\"_blank\"><b>&gt;&gt;&gt; STREAM ACTION NEWS JAX LIVE <\/b><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">From Jacksonville to Clay County, multiple shootings involving children have made headlines over the past few months:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>August 8: A child was injured in a shooting on Lem Turner Road.<\/li>\n<li>July 26: A 12-year-old was shot by a 19-year-old family friend.<\/li>\n<li>June 5: A child accidentally shot their father in a daycare parking lot.<\/li>\n<li>April 21: A 2-year-old tragically died after shooting himself with his father\u2019s unsecured firearm.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Adding to the concern, a high-profile case in Clay County involved a 14-year-old accused of fatally shooting both of his parents with their gun.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cAnytime when someone under the age can get a gun without adult supervision, there\u2019s always something that can go wrong with it,\u201d Mills said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Rod Mills, owner of Scorched Earth Firearms Training, demonstrated a range of gun safety tools that can help keep firearms out of children\u2019s hands \u2014 including cable locks and secure gun safes.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\"><b>[DOWNLOAD: <\/b><a href=\"https:\/\/www.actionnewsjax.com\/mobile-apps\/\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><b>Free Action News Jax app for alerts as news breaks<\/b><\/a><b>]<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">Mills explained how a basic cable lock can disable a weapon when used properly:<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 jsuuLb body-paragraph\">\u201cYou would then put it through the barrel. It will come out on the other side.
