Diane Kalas<\/strong>, the first female reporter for KPNX<\/a> in Phoenix, has died.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cShe passed peacefully, surrounded by love. Diane\u2019s strength, warmth, and unwavering love profoundly shaped our lives, and her memory will be cherished by all who had the joy of knowing her,\u201d her family posted to Facebook.<\/p>\n

She joined the station in 1970. The Phoenix NBC affiliate said <\/a>that \u201ceven though Kalas was the only female in a newsroom full of men, she said she was never treated any less just because she was a woman.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe men I worked with all treated me like their little sister.
