{"id":136775,"date":"2025-08-11T11:12:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-11T11:12:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/136775\/"},"modified":"2025-08-11T11:12:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-11T11:12:14","slug":"armed-suspect-opens-fire-after-clerk-fights-back-with-pepper-spray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/136775\/","title":{"rendered":"Armed suspect opens fire after clerk fights back with pepper spray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>SAN ANTONIO \u2014 A store clerk was shot and pistol-whipped during an attempted robbery late Sunday night at a Northeast Side convenience store.<\/p>\n<p>The incident happened just before 10 p.m. at a Valero gas station along Interstate 35 near North Weidner Road. <\/p>\n<p>Investigators said the suspect walked into the store wearing dark-colored clothing, pulling out a handgun and threatening the female clerk. <\/p>\n<p>Police said the man demanded money, holding the employee at gunpoint. In an attempt to defend herself, the clerk used pepper spray on the suspect. The suspect responded by firing a single shot, striking her in the arm, and then hitting her in the head with the gun before driving off in a black sedan.<\/p>\n<p>The woman was taken to the hospital.
