\n\t\u201cDeliver Me From Nowhere<\/a>,\u201d a biographical music drama starring Jeremy Allen White as Bruce Springsteen, has been added to the New York Film Festival<\/a> lineup.<\/p>\n

\n\tSet as the Spotlight Gala selection, the movie will screen on Sept. 28 at Lincoln Center\u2019s Alice Tully Hall. Springsteen will attend the premiere along with White\u2019s co-stars Jeremy Strong and Odessa Young. \u201cDeliver Me From Nowhere\u201d will host its world premiere elsewhere at an earlier date.<\/p>\n

\n\tAdapted from the biography by Warren Zanes, \u201cDeliver Me From Nowhere\u201d is set at an early \u201980s crossroads in Springsteen\u2019s career when he was rising to fame while crafting the personal acoustic songs for the 1982 album \u201cNebraska.\u201d At the same time, he was recording the demos for \u201cBorn in the U.S.A.\u201d \u2014 the hit that would catapult him to global stardom. Strong portrays\u00a0Jon Landau, Springsteen\u2019s manager and record producer, and Young plays the love interest of the Boss. <\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThe New York Film Festival has always felt like a spiritual home for the kind of cinema I believe in,\u201d said the film\u2019s director Scott Cooper. \u201cTo now arrive with a film about Bruce Springsteen \u2014 an artist whose music shaped not just a country but my own sense of storytelling \u2014 is something I could never have imagined. Getting to know Bruce, to explore his world and his spirit, has been one of the most profound creative experiences of my life. To share that experience with New York audiences, in a city that defines artistic possibility, is both an honor and a responsibility I hold with deep gratitude.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

\n\tNew York Film Festival\u2019s artistic director Dennis Lim called the movie a \u201cfitting tribute to a living legend.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTaking its cue from the stark majesty of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s classic album Nebraska, Scott Cooper\u2019s \u2018Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere\u2019 has an intimacy and immediacy that eludes most film biographies,\u201d Lim said.<\/p>\n

\n\tAs previously announced, New York Film Festival will open on Sept. 26 with Luca Guadagnino\u2019s \u201cAfter the Hunt.\u201d Jim Jarmusch\u2019s \u201cFather Mother Sister Brother\u201d has been set as the centerpiece, while Bradley Cooper\u2018s dramatic comedy \u201cIs This Thing On?\u201d is the festival\u2019s closing night film.<\/p>\n
