\n\tScott Cooper\u2019s biopic Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere<\/a> starring Jeremy Allen White<\/a> will premiere as the Spotlight Gala selection of the New York Film Festival<\/a> on September 28, with the Boss in attendance.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cWhite inhabits a legend and lays bare his beating heart in this graceful, exceptionally moving film about a very specific part of peerless American rock icon Bruce Springsteen<\/a>\u2019s life,\u201d the fest says of Cooper\u2019s film, adapted from Warren Zanes\u2019s 2023 best-selling Deliver Me from Nowhere: The Making of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s Nebraska.<\/p>\n

\n\tIt\u2019s set at an early-\u201980s crossroads in Springsteen\u2019s career when, still negotiating the transformative waves of his rising fame, he crafted the intensely personal acoustic songs that would become his mythic album Nebraska \u2014 at the same time that he was recording demos for Born in the U.S.A., which would catapult him to global superstardom.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe biographical drama from 20th Century Studios, set for an Oct. 24 theatrical release<\/a>, focuses \u201con the nitty-gritty of Springsteen\u2019s songwriting, while never shying away from the realities of his familial traumas and personal depression. It\u2019s more than just a tour de force for its incandescent star\u2014it\u2019s a reminder that the reason we love this seemingly larger-than-life hero is because he\u2019s always been palpably human,\u201d says NYFF<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\tThe studio released a first look trailer<\/a> in June. <\/p>\n

\n\tSupporting cast including Jeremy Strong as Springsteen\u2019s longtime manager and co-producer Jon Landau, Stephen Graham and Gaby Hoffmann as his parents, Paul Walter Hauser, David Krumholtz and Odessa Young. The film is produced by Cooper, Ellen Goldsmith-Vein, Eric Robinson and Scott Stuber. Tracey Landon and Zanes executive produce.<\/p>\n

\n\tSpringsteen, who occasionally visited the set, recently gave the fil<\/a>m<\/a> a thumbs up<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cTaking its cue from the stark majesty of Bruce Springsteen\u2019s classic album Nebraska, Scott Cooper\u2019s Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere has an intimacy and immediacy that eludes most film biographies,\u201d said NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim. \u201cAnchored by Jeremy Allen White\u2019s revelatory performance, this year\u2019s Spotlight Gala selection is a fitting tribute to a living legend.\u201d<\/p>\n
