As excitement builds for next year’s FIFA World Cup 26<\/a>, applications have opened for the volunteer program.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FIFA World Cup 26 will take place June and July 2026, and is anticipated to be the largest sporting event ever with three host countries and 16 host cities, including Philadelphia. FIFA World Cup 26 is expected to recruit 3,000 volunteers from a diverse range of communities within Philadelphia, and 7,000 applicants are expected to be invited to the Volunteer Team Tryouts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cHosting the FIFA World Cup 26\u2122 is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our city, and volunteers will play a critical role in ensuring Philadelphia shines on the global stage,\u201d said Alison Grove, Senior Director, Strategy, Operations, and Partnerships for Philadelphia Soccer 2026. \u201cWhether you’re a lifelong soccer fan or simply proud to represent Philadelphia, this is your chance to create a truly unforgettable fan experience for visitors from around the world. We\u2019re calling on the community to answer the call, get involved, and be part of history.\u201d<\/p>\n

No previous volunteer experience is required to apply, but applicants must meet certain criteria to be selected. Volunteers must be at least 18, must be able to speak English, must be eligible to volunteer in the Host Country and must agree to and pass a background review. Volunteers also need to commit to at least eight shifts during the tournament from June 11 to July 19, 2026, some of which may be before the tournament starts.\u00a0<\/p>\n

FIFA Volunteer Team Tryouts will take place from October to January, and volunteers must attend tryouts and complete volunteer training. The Volunteer Center, which will be located at the Fashion District on 901 Market Street, will act as a training and recruitment location for volunteers. There will also be an in-house FIFA museum in the center for volunteers to learn more about the history of the FIFA World Cup and Philadelphia Soccer 2026\u2019s mission.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cFashion District Philadelphia\u2019s selection as the site of Philadelphia Soccer 2026\u2019s FIFA World Cup 26\u2122 Volunteer Center represents a significant victory for our city,\u201d said Philadelphia Mayor Cherelle Parker. \u201cThe center will not only help power critical volunteer efforts supporting FIFA World Cup 26\u2122 but also generate significant economic activity for our local businesses, restaurants, and hotels. We are proud to support this effort and the thousands of volunteers who will ensure that next summer\u2019s tournament is a success.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Fashion District spans three blocks in the center of downtown Philadelphia. The area is home to several designer stores, restaurants and hotels.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The Volunteer Center will be adjacent to the Pennsylvania Convention Center and within walking distance of over 6,000 hotel rooms. Public transportation is also easily accessible to the center\u2019s location.\u00a0<\/p>\n
