Parents should be furious. Politicians should be embarrassed.

This year’s mayoral contest has so far offered not even token debate on improving public education, and now Mamdani’s trying to make the race all about who can best fight President Donald Trump. He and Cuomo are in a race to see who hates President Trump more.

New York’s children matter a lot more to the city’s future; here’s hoping the candidates don’t keep getting away with ignoring their needs.

[5122
5229,5297,18728,17452,4691,5289,43433,405,403,5226,5225,5228,5227,1269,40852,47333,82849,38597,67,586,132,5230,68,2969,5301
0":"post-138260","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-new-york","8":"tag-america","9":"tag-andrew-cuomo","10":"tag-charter-schools","11":"tag-department-of-education","12":"tag-editorial","13":"tag-eric-adams","14":"tag-michael-mulgrew","15":"tag-new-york","16":"tag-new-york-city","17":"tag-newyork","18":"tag-newyorkcity","19":"tag-ny","20":"tag-nyc","21":"tag-opinion","22":"tag-public-schools","23":"tag-state-education-department","24":"tag-test-scores","25":"tag-united-federation-of-teachers","26":"tag-united-states","27":"tag-united-states-of-america","28":"tag-unitedstates","29":"tag-unitedstatesofamerica","30":"tag-us","31":"tag-usa","32":"tag-zohran-mamdani
["GET
