{"id":138396,"date":"2025-08-12T01:25:22","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T01:25:22","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/138396\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T01:25:22","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T01:25:22","slug":"fall-and-winter-weather-outlook-for-chicago","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/138396\/","title":{"rendered":"Fall and winter weather outlook for Chicago"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>As we move into the fall months, the NOAA Climate Prediction Center is forecasting above-average temperatures and near-normal rainfall for the Chicago area.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Typically, fall in Chicago sees a steady drop in temperatures, from an average high of 75.5 degrees Fahrenheit in September to around 48.4 degrees Fahrenheit by November.<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/fall-temp-08-11-25.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"fall-temp-08-11-25.jpg \" height=\"479\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>Rainfall remains consistent early in the season, with both September and October usually seeing over three inches of precipitation. <\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/fall-precip-08-11-2.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"fall-precip-08-11-25.jpg \" height=\"482\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>By November, that amount drops slightly to about 2.5 inches. <\/p>\n<p>The first signs of snow also tend to arrive in the fall \u2014 with Chicago averaging about 0.2 inches in October and 1.8 inches in November \u2014 but with warmer-than-normal temps expected, snow may once again be delayed. <\/p>\n<p>NOAA defines &#8220;meteorological fall&#8221; as the period from Sept. 1 through Nov. 30.<\/p>\n<p> Looking ahead to winter, defined by NOAA as Dec. 1 through Feb. 28, Chicago could see a wetter-than-normal season, with temperatures expected to remain near average. <\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/winter-temp-08-11-25.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"winter-temp-08-11-25.jpg \" height=\"480\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/winter-precip-08-11-25.jpg#.jpeg\" alt=\"winter-precip-08-11-25.jpg \" height=\"478\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>This winter outlook is influenced by the potential development of a La Ni\u00f1a pattern, which occurs when cooler-than-average sea surface temperatures are observed in the eastern Pacific Ocean near the equator. <\/p>\n<p>      <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/la-nina-08-11-25.png#.png\" alt=\"la-nina-08-11-25.png \" height=\"349\" width=\"620\" class=\" lazyload\"  loading=\"lazy\"\/><\/p>\n<p>                CBS<\/p>\n<p>La Ni\u00f1a shifts global weather patterns, and for the Midwest, including Chicago, it typically brings a more active jet stream over the Great Lakes.
