Conan O\u2019Brien and Bob Odenkirk may be longtime friends and collaborators, but when it comes to the \u201cBetter Call Saul\u201d actor\u2019s action starring gig in \u201cNobody,\u201d<\/a> O\u2019Brien just wants to get beaten to death. <\/p>\n

That was his ask on a 2021 episode of \u201cConan O\u2019Brien Needs a Friend\u201d<\/a> in promotion of the first \u201cNobody\u201d \u2014 but alas, audiences can\u2019t expect the comic to pop up in its sequel either, which hits theaters Friday via Universal Pictures.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen the first \u2018Nobody\u2019 came out, I had you on, I loved it, we had a great interview, and I said at the end, \u2018If you ever make another one, you\u2019ve got to put me in it.\u2019 You went, \u2018Yeah! Yeah!\u2019\u201d O\u2019Brien recalled on Monday\u2019s episode before lamenting: \u201cI\u2019m not in it! I just want to be beaten. I want somebody to beat the s\u2013t out of me.\u201d<\/p>\n

The host\u2019s actual 2021 pitch went a bit differently: He positioned himself as a potential \u201csexual dynamo\u201d for the still unconfirmed sequel, pressuring Odenkirk to find a role \u201cfor an old friend.\u201d The Emmy nominee did seem interested in the idea.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m hoping there are sequels. I\u2019m also hoping if there is a sequel, you\u2019ll find a role for an old friend,\u201d O\u2019Brien said at the time. \u201cWith maybe a little makeup I could not look like myself and I could play a guy who\u2019s a sexual dynamo.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOK \u2014 will you start training for that?\u201d Odenkirk asked, playing along. <\/p>\n

\u201cYes I will. Yes I will,\u201d the host assured. \u201cI\u2019m taking the medication now.\u201d<\/p>\n

Unfortunately, their game plan didn\u2019t come to pass. But on Monday\u2019s episode of \u201cConan O\u2019Brien Needs a Friend,\u201d the two longtime pals began looking ahead to a potential third installment to round out a \u201cNobody\u201d trilogy.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen \u2018Nobody 3\u2019 comes out, I just want to be \u2014 put me in clown makeup, it won\u2019t be me, and I\u2019ll be a small \u2026 But I just want someone to beat me to death,\u201d O\u2019Brien insisted, to which Odenkirk responded: \u201cWe\u2019ll make it happen.\u201d<\/p>\n

So, here\u2019s to hoping. <\/p>\n

Elsewhere in the interview, O\u2019Brien enthused over Odenkirk\u2019s chameleonic career \u2014 one that he admittedly never saw coming. (The two met in 1988 comedy circles and eventually worked together on \u201cSaturday Night Live.\u201d) The actor also opened up about his scrape with death on the set of \u201cBetter Call Saul\u201d after suffering a heart attack in July 2021, and more.<\/p>\n
