{"id":139718,"date":"2025-08-12T13:05:19","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T13:05:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139718\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T13:05:19","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T13:05:19","slug":"n-s-man-gets-ticket-on-purpose-for-walking-in-woods-to-fight-fire-safety-ban","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139718\/","title":{"rendered":"N.S. man gets ticket on purpose for walking in woods to fight fire-safety ban"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A week has passed since the Nova Scotia-wide ban on entering the woods came into effect \u2014 and some citizens are already testing its limits.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/70c8fc80.png\" alt=\"\" style=\"position:absolute;width:1px;height:1px\" referrerpolicy=\"no-referrer-when-downgrade\"\/><\/p>\n<p>A Cape Breton man\u2019s videos went viral over the weekend after he went to the Department of Natural Resources office in Coxheath and announced he was going to go into the woods in protest.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to challenge this order in court, and the only way to do that is to get the fine,\u201d Jeffrey Evely said in the video. \u201cSo I\u2019m not trying to make trouble for you guys, I just want a piece of Tim Houston and I want to be as accommodating and nice as I can be.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>One of the officers replies: \u201cOkay, so I\u2019m ordering you to not.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOkay, roger that,\u201d Evely replied in the video.<\/p>\n<p>Story continues below advertisement<\/p>\n<p>Evely, who stood as a political candidate for the People\u2019s Party of Canada, received thousands of comments on his videos. The Canadian Constitution Foundation has <a href=\"https:\/\/globalnews.ca\/news\/11324243\/ccf-nova-scotia-legal-threat-forest-fires-woods-ban\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">threatened legal action to have the ban removed<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>When Evely exited the woods, he said he was handed a ticket for $28,872.50.
