{"id":139969,"date":"2025-08-12T15:19:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:19:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139969\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T15:19:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:19:13","slug":"philadelphia-judge-takes-gop-line-to-oust-soros-linked-prosecutor-larry-krasner-this-fall","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139969\/","title":{"rendered":"Philadelphia judge takes GOP line to oust Soros-linked prosecutor Larry Krasner this fall"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles!\n  <\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\">A former municipal judge who lost to Philadelphia\u2019s Soros-linked city prosecutor in the May Democratic primary announced over the weekend he would be registering for the Republican Party line in November\u2019s election, as President Donald Trump brings a new focus on urban crime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"speakable\"><a href=\"https:\/\/scjap.org\/find_a_judge\/patrick-f-dugan\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Philadelphia Judge Patrick Dugan<\/a>, of the city\u2019s Far Northeast, earned enough write-in votes in May\u2019s contest \u2013 where no Republican was on that party\u2019s primary ballot \u2013 to be able to run on the party line in November.<\/p>\n<p>However, it wasn\u2019t until the weekend that Dugan formally announced he would take the GOP mantle in hopes of ousting Philadelphia District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/progressive-da-who-dismissed-alleged-sex-offenders-attempted-kidnapping-charges-faces-recall-petition\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Larry Krasner.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Trump, meanwhile, announced on Monday he is usurping control of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., for the statutory 48 hours allowed under the District of Columbia Home Rule Act of 1973 due to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-claims-dc-crimes-trounce-stats-from-notoriously-violent-cities-worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">violent crime<\/a> he declared is on par with several capitals in Central America.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/soros-backed-philadelphia-da-survives-primary-challenge-potential-gop-wrinkle-ahead\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>SOROS-BACKED PHILADELPHIA DA SURVIVES PRIMARY CHALLENGE, BUT POTENTIAL GOP WRINKLE AHEAD<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/larry-krasner-reuters.png\" alt=\"larry-krasner-philadelphia-reuters\" width=\"1200\" height=\"675\"\/> <\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia DA Larry Krasner (Reuters)<\/p>\n<p>Dugan said in a statement that he expects Krasner to try to tie him to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/trump-claims-dc-crimes-trounce-stats-from-notoriously-violent-cities-worldwide\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Trump<\/a> and call him an &#8220;extremist,&#8221; but only &#8220;because he knows his record is one of failure, and he cannot defend the rampant crime his policies have caused.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I know that Philadelphians are smart enough to believe their eyes, and what they see is more crime, more drugs, more victims abandoned, more shootings, and more criminals let loose on the streets,&#8221; Dugan <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cityandstatepa.com\/politics\/2025\/08\/patrick-dugan-run-republican-philly-da-rematch-larry-krasner\/407344\/?oref=cspa-author-river\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">said in a statement<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The former jurist also reportedly said that although he will be on the Republican line, he identifies as an &#8220;Independent-Democrat.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>That wasn\u2019t enough to quell Philadelphia Democratic Party boss Bob Brady, who called Dugan a &#8220;disgrace&#8221; and appeared to kick him out of the party.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;He\u2019s got zero integrity\u2026 he\u2019s out of our party\u2026 I don\u2019t need liars in our party,&#8221; the former congressman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.inquirer.com\/politics\/pat-dugan-larry-krasner-philly-da-election-20250809.html?cx_testId=8&amp;cx_testVariant=cx_1&amp;cx_artPos=1&amp;cx_experienceId=EXT5K6VEC2ZB&amp;cx_experienceActionId=showRecommendationsBKHFY3688MDG12#cxrecs_s\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">told the Philadelphia Inquirer<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/soros-backed-philly-da-could-face-uphill-battle-reelection-gop-write-in-scheme-succeeds\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>SOROS-BACKED PHILLY DA COULD FACE UPHILL BATTLE FOR RE-ELECTION IF GOP WRITE-IN SCHEME SUCCEEDS<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The Associated Press had called the Krasner-Dugan primary with the incumbent earning at least 60% of the vote. Dugan, however, garnered 53,000 Democratic votes and a shocking 6,400 write-ins.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Because Pennsylvania is a closed-primary state, those voters were likely \u2013 if not entirely \u2013 Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Dugan said Saturday he would be a DA for &#8220;all of Philadelphia,&#8221; regardless of party affiliation.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I cannot stand by and allow Mr. Krasner\u2019s failed policies to continue to hold our city hostage. Every Philadelphian has a real choice this fall, and I believe they will stand with me for common sense and safety.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Philly GOP chair Vince Fenerty added that the city now has a &#8220;real choice&#8221; between Dugan and Krasner, a &#8220;proven advocate for the very criminals he is supposed to prosecute.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Pennsylvania state Sen. Joe Picozzi, a fellow Northeast Philly Republican, called Dugan a &#8220;proven leader&#8221; and said &#8220;firing Larry Krasner&#8221; is a top priority for him.<\/p>\n<p>Picozzi himself shocked the commonwealth when he unseated a Democrat in 2024, making him the first Republican state senator to represent America\u2019s birthplace in decades.<\/p>\n<p>Krasner <a href=\"https:\/\/metrophiladelphia.com\/pat-dugan-district-attorney-election\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">criticized Dugan<\/a> for being a Democrat embraced by Republicans.<\/p>\n<p>Since Krasner\u2019s rise, Philadelphia has battled a crime crisis, as well as the prosecutor\u2019s penchant not to prosecute marijuana possession, certain sex work offenses and other low-level crimes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/foxnews.com\/download\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p>However, during some of the looting amid the George Floyd riots, Krasner indicated there had been 550 arrests for burglary and that he would &#8220;vigorously prosecute&#8221; many of them.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Some of them, on the other hand, are an 18-year-old who&#8217;s never had contact with the criminal justice system before, not even an arrest, who&#8217;s going in through a broken window and coming out with a T-shirt,&#8221; he added, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsnews.com\/philadelphia\/news\/philadelphia-police-looting-suspects-da-larry-krasner\/?utm_source=chatgpt.com\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">CBS News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Violent crime as a category, however, has declined some in the past few years, with a decrease of about 17%, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/penncapital-star.com\/criminal-justice\/violent-crime-continues-to-drop-across-us-cities-report-shows\/?\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Penn Capital-Star,<\/a> to which critics have pointed to the custom of dropping charges on some crimes.<\/p>\n<p>Trump previously called Krasner the &#8220;worst district attorney,&#8221; and asked Philadelphians who attended a 2019 rally in Hershey to &#8220;get yourself a new prosecutor.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In a January statement after Trump took office, Krasner hit back, telling the president in a statement that &#8220;arrests and prosecutions are based on probable cause, not on whether you agree or disagree with a political position.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unlike the current president, who this week pardoned or commuted sentences for over 1,000 lawfully convicted and sentenced insurrectionists, my office and others will continue to uphold the U.S. Constitution and the rule of law,&#8221; Krasner said.<\/p>\n<p>Charles Creitz is a reporter for\u00a0Fox News Digital.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>He joined Fox News in 2013 as a writer and production assistant.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Charles covers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/media\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">media<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">politics<\/a> and culture for Fox News Digital.<\/p>\n<p>Charles is a Pennsylvania native and graduated from Temple University with a B.A. in Broadcast Journalism.
