{"id":139995,"date":"2025-08-12T15:32:14","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:32:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139995\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T15:32:14","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T15:32:14","slug":"swimmer-dies-in-nyc-beach-another-at-jersey-shore","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/139995\/","title":{"rendered":"Swimmer dies in NYC beach, another at Jersey Shore"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A woman died after she was pulled from the ocean at a popular New York City beach Monday \u2014 the same day another swimmer drowned and at least six others were rescued from rip currents on the Jersey Shore.<\/p>\n<p>The 55-year-old swimmer was hauled out of the water by New York City lifeguards at Brooklyn\u2019s Manhattan Beach around 6:15 p.m. after she was discovered unconscious and unresponsive, according to police.<\/p>\n<p>Dramatic footage <a href=\"https:\/\/go.citizen.com\/4I7ZNj4SLVb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">posted to the Citizen app<\/a> shows at least a dozen first responders sprinting across the sand carrying the victim to an ambulance as stunned sunbathers watch.<\/p>\n<p>Video showed responders hustling the woman to an ambulance after she was pulled from the ocean Monday evening. Citizen<\/p>\n<p>The 55-year-old woman was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where she was declared dead. Citizen<\/p>\n<p>Lifeguards, who are on duty until 6 p.m. daily, attempted CPR before the unidentified woman was rushed to Coney Island Hospital, where she was pronounced dead, cops said.<\/p>\n<p>The medical examiner\u2019s office will determine the cause of the death, which does not appear to be suspicious, police said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, down the Shore, a swimmer died after he and six others got caught in a rip current off an unguarded beach in Seaside Heights, where rough water kept swimmers out of the ocean all day.<\/p>\n<p>The beach town\u2019s rescue squad responded to a report of swimmers in distress just after 7 p.m. \u2014 two hours after lifeguards left \u2014 and were on scene within minutes with a jet ski and rescue swimmers, Seaside Heights Assistant Fire Chief Tim Farrell <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nj.com\/ocean\/2025\/08\/swimmer-caught-in-rip-current-dies-after-being-pulled-from-ocean-at-jersey-shore-beach-official-says.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">told NJ.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Six people were lifted from the water \u2014 and a seventh was found half-submerged.<\/p>\n<p>The unidentified man was rushed to the shore on a jet ski, but died after being taken to Community Medical Center in Toms River.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, a swimmer died after he and six others got caught in a rip current in Seaside Heights.
