He spent 16 years at Blum (formerly Blum &amp; Poe), where he oversaw global sales, secured major estates such as Robert Colescott, and worked closely with artists including Mark Grotjahn and Henry Taylor. Before that came senior posts at Van de Weghe Fine Art, and worked across departments at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/t\/phillips\/\" id=\"auto-tag_phillips\" data-tag=\"phillips\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Phillips<\/a>, and Christie\u2019s. The decision, he said, was less about the market than the \u201csystem\u201d \u2014 the art world\u2019s relentless circuit of fairs, openings, and obligations. News of the shutdown prompted a volley of calls to Bangser, one of them from AIG co-founder <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artnews.com\/t\/amy-cappellazzo\/\" id=\"auto-tag_amy-cappellazzo\" data-tag=\"amy-cappellazzo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Amy Cappellazzo<\/a>. Their conversations, Bangser told ARTnews, revealed \u201ca real meeting of the minds\u201d about the market. \u201cJoining AIG is a natural evolution of my time in the art world,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tCappellazzo, who launched AIG with Yuki Terase in 2021, told ARTnews that she was not looking to expand her senior ranks but that adding Bangser was \u201cone of those rare opportunities you don\u2019t pass up.\u201d She credited him with \u201cunderstanding the whole ecosystem\u201d\u2014from artist studios to secondary-market trading floors. She added that he sees the current market lull as a moment to advance rather than retreat. \u201cBecause he\u2019s worked in galleries, at auction houses, and directly with artists, he brings a range of experience that\u2019s incredibly valuable\u2014especially now,\u201d Cappellazzo said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph larva \/\/ a-font-body-m     \">\n\tAIG, based in New York and Hong Kong, advises private clients, artists, estates, and institutions on acquisitions, sales, and long-term collection planning.
