{"id":140147,"date":"2025-08-12T16:52:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T16:52:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140147\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T16:52:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T16:52:13","slug":"snowboarder-dies-in-crash-at-perisher-ski-resort","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140147\/","title":{"rendered":"Snowboarder dies in crash at Perisher ski resort"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man has died in a snowboarding accident at a popular Snowy Mountains ski resort.<\/p>\n<p>Police said a 22-year-old man had died at the Perisher Ski Resort, about 30 kilometres west of Jindabyne, on Tuesday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" alt=\"The terrain park at Perisher.\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/80285817b6583753ef37e408e40f8e028e254c8b.jpeg\" height=\"390\" width=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The terrain park at Perisher.<\/p>\n<p>NSW Police said emergency services were called to the scene at Perisher Valley about 2.30pm after the man had been injured in a crash.<\/p>\n<p>A NSW Ambulance spokesman said a helicopter and several ambulance crews attended. The man was treated by paramedics but died at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>Perisher vice president and general manager Nathan Butterworth said the resort extended \u201cour deepest sympathy and support to our guest\u2019s family and friends\u201d, including Perisher Ski Patrol members who responded to the accident.<\/p>\n<p>The accident happened in Front Valley Terrain Park, where the jumps range from 4.6 metres to 9.1 metres.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Perisher is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere.\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/513fbebbab5e6b8f5d059075c9b42c0ac3be5fa3.jpeg\" height=\"390\" width=\"584\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Perisher is the largest ski resort in the southern hemisphere.Credit: Alex Ellinghausen<\/p>\n<p>A skier who was at the scene and asked for her name not be used said the terrain park contained some of the \u201cbiggest jumps\u201d at the resort for the most experienced skiers and snowboarders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are slope-style athletes \u2026 that would be going over the jumps all winter,\u201d she told the Herald.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A man has died in a snowboarding accident at a popular Snowy Mountains ski resort.
