(St. John\u2019s, NL<\/strong>) August 12, 2025 \u2013 The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary (RNC) is investigating a wildfire burning out of control on the Northeast Avalon.<\/p>\n The RNC received a call for assistance just before 12 p.m. yesterday (Aug. 11) to a report of a fire that was burning along the pole line in the area of Paddy\u2019s Pond. Officers spoke to a number of people who were in the area at the time and investigators are now looking to identify and speak to the driver of a vehicle who was observed leaving just prior to the fire being reported. That driver was described as a female who was travelling in a dark SUV who left Paddy\u2019s Pond and headed east on the Trans-Canada Highway. It is believed she may have information to support the fire investigation.<\/p>\n Anyone with information or video footage (CCTV, dash camera, cell phone) between 10:30 a.m. and 12 p.m. Monday from the area of Peacekeepers Way and the Trans-Canada Highway at Paddy\u2019s Pond is asked to call the RNC at 709-729-8000.<\/p>\n To report anonymously, contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or visit www.nlcrimestoppers.com<\/a>.
