{"id":140688,"date":"2025-08-12T21:34:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:34:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140688\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T21:34:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:34:09","slug":"man-arrested-2-weeks-after-fatal-hit-and-run-in-dallas-design-district","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140688\/","title":{"rendered":"Man arrested 2 weeks after fatal hit-and-run in Dallas Design District"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">A man has been arrested in connection to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/crime\/2025\/07\/27\/one-killed-in-sunday-morning-hit-and-run-in-dallas-design-district\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/crime\/2025\/07\/27\/one-killed-in-sunday-morning-hit-and-run-in-dallas-design-district\/\">fatal hit-and-run in July<\/a> that left a 23-year-old dead.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Jose Hernandez De Leon, 31, was arrested Tuesday and faces charges of collision involving a death, according to the Dallas Police Department.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">De Leon could be charged with a second-degree felony in connection to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/2025\/07\/30\/family-seeks-answers-id-of-driver-who-struck-killed-man-in-dallas-design-district\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/2025\/07\/30\/family-seeks-answers-id-of-driver-who-struck-killed-man-in-dallas-design-district\/\">death of 23-year-old Seth Rains<\/a>, who was hit and killed on July 27.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rains was leaving a Green Velvet concert with friends at about 2:40 a.m. when a car hit him at Turtle Creek Boulevard and Market Center Boulevard, his mother, Cyndi Rains, and police said.<\/p>\n<p>Crime in The News<\/p>\n<p class=\"dmnc_features-cta-social-cta-social-module__zWZy- mb-4\">Read the crime and public safety news your neighbors are talking about.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rains\u2019 friends attempted to stop the car when they saw the driver trying to leave, his mother said.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">\u201cThey were like, \u2018You just hit our friend, you need to stop,\u2019\u201d she said. \u201cThat\u2019s when he slammed on his gas and left. He just took off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rains later died at Parkland Memorial Hospital, according to the Dallas County medical examiner\u2019s office.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Rains was raised in Arlington and went to school in Mansfield.
