{"id":140731,"date":"2025-08-12T21:56:10","date_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:56:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140731\/"},"modified":"2025-08-12T21:56:10","modified_gmt":"2025-08-12T21:56:10","slug":"police-firearm-discharged-at-sydney-airport-during-arrest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/140731\/","title":{"rendered":"Police firearm discharged at Sydney Airport during arrest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">An operation is underway at Sydney Airport after a firearm was discharged as federal police officers attempted to arrest a man inside a domestic terminal.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">A crime scene has been sectioned off in the T2 terminal.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The ABC understands the man was being detained by officers in a struggle when the police gun was fired.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">The Australian Federal Police (AFP) confirmed the man had been arrested.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;An investigation into the incident has been launched &#8230; and there is no ongoing threat to the public,&#8221; a spokesperson said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;Further comment will be provided at an appropriate time.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">In a statement, Sydney Airport said it was assisting the AFP following the incident.<\/p>\n<p class=\"paragraph_paragraph__iYReA\">&#8220;No injuries occurred as a result of the incident.
