In Kris&#8217; free time, he lives his NBA dreams at men&#8217;s leagues across Los Angeles.<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>EL SEGUNDO, Calif. &#8212; <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"84caf62b-c753-71ea-a787-44fd224a4294\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/lac\/los-angeles-chargers\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Los Angeles Chargers<\/a> running back <a data-player-guid=\"c1c771f1-75c3-3915-f07e-d4c9a11c7ad4\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4241457\/najee-harris\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Najee Harris<\/a> ran and participated in drills with a football for the first time this training camp, doing so off to the side with an athletic trainer during Tuesday&#8217;s practice.<\/p>\n<p>Harris&#8217; agent, Doug Hendrickson, said Harris suffered a &#8220;superficial eye injury&#8221; after a July 4 fireworks mishap, which landed Harris on the non-football injury\/illness list ahead of training camp. Hendrickson said he expected Harris to be ready for the season.<\/p>\n<p>The Chargers have not disclosed Harris&#8217; injury, a standard practice of coach Jim Harbaugh in the preseason and training camp, when teams aren&#8217;t required by the NFL to produce injury reports.<\/p>\n<p>The progression to running and doing football drills at practice is a positive sign for Harris and the Chargers. Harris had been walking laps with a helmet and weighted vest around the Chargers&#8217; practice field since Aug. 2.<\/p>\n<p>Editor&#8217;s Picks<\/p>\n<p>2 Related<\/p>\n<p>Still, Harbaugh has been noncommittal about Harris&#8217; status for Week 1. When asked whether there is a chance Harris isn&#8217;t ready for the Chargers&#8217; season opener against the <a data-clubhouse-guid=\"f68f2343-8ceb-7a02-740d-af6338be21d2\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/team\/_\/name\/kc\/kansas-city-chiefs\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kansas City Chiefs<\/a> in Brazil, Harbaugh said: &#8220;There&#8217;s a chance he is.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A picture posted to Harris&#8217; Snapchat on Aug. 6 showed him with his left eye completely shut. Harbaugh said last Friday, however, that Harris can open his eye.<\/p>\n<p>Offensive coordinator Greg Roman said that even if Harris isn&#8217;t back for Week 1, rookie running back <a data-player-guid=\"757d9056-88c7-3df1-b2e3-f6f8f186780b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4685382\/omarion-hampton\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Omarion Hampton<\/a> will rotate with another running back. Roman said the race for the third-string spot behind Hampton is &#8220;wide open.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Don&#8217;t have to make that decision right now,&#8221; Roman said. &#8220;Just keep working, keep evaluating, keep trying to get better, see how it all fits together when the decision needs to be made.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><a data-player-guid=\"aacf047c-8ddd-3655-82bb-d830fa10697e\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4430968\/kimani-vidal\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Kimani Vidal<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"7065be65-729f-30dc-891c-97c90744eaa9\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4601080\/raheim-sanders\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Raheim Sanders<\/a>, <a data-player-guid=\"1575518f-580b-610b-fe8e-7bf51e49054b\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/4372071\/hassan-haskins\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Hassan Haskins<\/a> and <a data-player-guid=\"7818f7f5-1cf1-78c8-ccfb-12e6fab89bb7\" href=\"https:\/\/www.espn.com\/nfl\/player\/_\/id\/3916430\/nyheim-miller-hines\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Nyheim Miller-Hines<\/a> are vying for the third-string spot.
