Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez for her Westchester County upbringing after she referred to herself as a \u201cBronx girl\u201d in a<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/24\/us-news\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-responds-to-trumps-blistering-criticism-im-just-a-silly-girl\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> spat with President Trump on Tuesday.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>State Assemblyman Matt Slater (R-Yorktown) called out the lefty congresswoman and even shared a yearbook photo of Ocasio-Cortez showing her as a high school freshman in suburban Yorktown in northern Westchester County \u2014 a 40-minute drive from the Bronx.<\/p>\n<p>The takedown came after Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who represents part of the Bronx and Queens, started trading social media jabs with Trump because she called for his impeachment for approving Iran airstrikes without congressional approval.<\/p>\n<p>AOC as a freshman in high school. LP Media<\/p>\n<p>President Trump<a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2025\/06\/24\/us-news\/trump-dares-dems-to-impeach-him-in-blistering-post-make-my-day\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"> called the liberal firebrand<\/a> \u201cone of the \u2018dumbest\u2019 people in Congress,\u201d leading Ocasio-Cortez to rip into the commander in chief in a series of tweets.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAlso, I\u2019m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast. Respectfully,\u201d Ocasio-Cortez <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/AOC\/status\/1937525633262727407\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said in reference<\/a> to the president\u2019s Queens childhood.<\/p>\n<p>But Slater, who was a senior when Ocasio-Cortez was a freshman, chimed in with the yearbook photo, pointing out that the lawmaker attended Yorktown public schools, including Yorktown High School.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re a BX girl then why are you in my Yorktown yearbook? Give it up already,\u201d Slater <a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/slater4ny\/status\/1937611831033430156\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">tweeted.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Yorktown is about a 40-minute drive from the Bronx. Google Maps<\/p>\n<p>AOC graduated from Yorktown High School in 2007.  Google Maps<\/p>\n<p>Slater, in a statement to The Post, said the \u201cAOC-Bronx mythology is laughable\u201d to anyone who lives in the Westchester community, where about 36,000 people live.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe truth is AOC is Sandy Cortez who went to Yorktown High School and lived at the corner of Friends Road and Longvue Street,\u201d he said. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe may think it makes her look tough or like some kind of champion for the radical left who voted for [mayoral candidate] Zohran Mamdani, but she really needs to come clean and drop the act.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The leftwing darling has taken heat for her suburban roots since she pulled off an upset win in 2018 to burst onto the national stage.<\/p>\n<p>During her campaign, she burnished her Bronx bona fides and shortly after her upset win over incumbent Joe Crowley even told \u201cLate Night\u201d host Stephen Colbert during Trump\u2019s first term, \u201cI don\u2019t think he knows how to deal with a girl from the Bronx.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s family moved to a modest Yorktown home when she was around 5 years old for better schools, according to a past New York Times <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2018\/06\/27\/nyregion\/alexandria-ocasio-cortez-bio-profile.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">article.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>The yearbook snap was from about 20 years ago. The family house was sold in 2016 and she was listed as a resident at the time, according to a previous <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lohud.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2018\/07\/02\/ocasio-cortez-westchester\/751333002\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Journal News story.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ocasio-Cortez has previously defended the Bronx narrative, claiming living in Yorktown showed her the disparities people face based on where they were born.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is nice. Growing up, it was a good town for working people,\u201d she said in reference to Yorktown in a 2018 tweet. \u201cMy mom scrubbed toilets so I could live here &amp; I grew up seeing how the zip code one is born in determines much of their opportunity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An email seeking comment from Ocasio-Cortez\u2019s office was not immediately returned Wednesday. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"A New York state lawmaker needled Rep.
