{"id":142172,"date":"2025-08-13T10:46:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-13T10:46:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/142172\/"},"modified":"2025-08-13T10:46:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-13T10:46:12","slug":"mark-latham-alex-greenwich-court-hearing-wraps-after-sex-act-tweet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/142172\/","title":{"rendered":"Mark Latham Alex Greenwich court hearing wraps after sex act tweet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Outspoken former federal <a href=\"http:\/\/9news.com.au\/labor\" title=\"Labor\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Labor<\/a> leader Mark Latham has used a witness box as his pulpit, accusing a left-leaning rival of being unable to take public criticism as he defends a homosexual vilification case.Latham gave evidence to a <a href=\"http:\/\/9news.com.au\/courts\" title=\"tribunal\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">tribunal<\/a> on Wednesday after being accused of vilification and workplace harassment by <a href=\"http:\/\/9news.com.au\/new-south-wales\" title=\"NSW\" target=\"\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">NSW<\/a> independent MP Alex Greenwich.<\/p>\n<p>The case centres on a sexually explicit tweet the Federal Court previously ruled as defamatory and subsequent media appearances made by Latham, who sits as an independent in the NSW parliament&#8217;s upper house.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/01924f2f-ab8c-46f7-8049-c3fa6b77872f.jpeg\"   alt=\"\"\/>Mark Latham MLC arrives at the John Maddison Tower in Sydney on August 13, 2025. (Dominic Lorrimer)<\/p>\n<p>The firebrand politician did not hold back in the witness box, delivering a lengthy tirade in which he accused Greenwich of suing to try to silence him and being unable to take criticism.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If (Greenwich) has a leak in his roof, he would stomp around his house and say &#8216;Bloody Latham, bloody Latham&#8217;,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>The former state leader of One Nation delivered his rant after the tribunal let Greenwich tender a tweet sent by Latham.<\/p>\n<p>The post labelled the tribunal hearing &#8220;an absurd proposition&#8221; with Latham labelling his previous criticism of Greenwich as &#8220;100 per cent true&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>It was evidence the initial post, sent in 2023, was continuing to cause Greenwich harm, his lawyers argued.<\/p>\n<p>Latham&#8217;s lawyer Zali Burrows earlier tried to tender late evidence, including Latham labelling his rival a &#8220;spoilt child&#8221; along with other references to his father.<\/p>\n<p>Senior tribunal member Mandy Tibbey accepted only a limited amount of the affidavit after questioning its relevance, adding: &#8220;I don&#8217;t really see how this helps your case.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The tribunal also knocked back a request by Greenwich&#8217;s team to continue updating evidence while preparing final submissions if the alleged harmful tweets continued.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/https:\/\/prod.static9.net.au\/fs\/b7794b9d-4966-4d94-8fc4-5ec7b6a2fc5b.jpeg\"   alt=\"\"\/>Member for Sydney Alex Greenwich arrives at the John Maddison Tower in Sydney on August 13, 2025.
