As Taylor Sheridan<\/a>\u2019s TV universe expands, the Fort Worth-raised show creator is launching a 450,000-square-foot production hub in North Texas. <\/p>\n

The two-building campus is located in Fort Worth\u2019s AllianceTexas<\/a> development and contains six sound stages. This collaboration between Sheridan\u2019s SGS Studios, Paramount Pictures and developer Hillwood has produced the largest operating studio in the state, according to a news release.<\/p>\n

The facilities can accommodate four productions at a time. They mark the first permanent home for Sheridan\u2019s productions, which have stoked intrigue when they have shot (with increasing frequency) across North Texas.<\/p>\n

The occupants for the next three years belong to Sheridan\u2019s TV slate: his West Texas oil drama, Landman<\/a>, his spy thriller Lioness<\/a> and Yellowstone<\/a> spinoffs The Madison and Rio Palo. <\/p>\n

The joint studio venture comes months after the Texas Legislature approved<\/a> a bill that invests a record $1.5 billion into the state\u2019s film incentives program over the next 10 years. The new law<\/a>, which goes into effect Sept. 1, is poised to make the region a formidable filming site amid a production exodus and period of flux in Hollywood. <\/p>\n

In a recent Paramount Global earnings call, co-CEO Chris McCarthy previewed the fall slate for the company\u2019s streamer. Spoiler: Taylor Sheridan\u2019s name is written all over it.<\/p>\n

Everything under one roof<\/p>\n

Landman, which recently finished filming its second season, christened the facility in March. <\/p>\n

The campus made a \u201cnight-and-day\u201d difference for production on the show, according to David Glasser<\/a>, president and CEO of 101 Studios, a company tied to several Sheridan projects. <\/p>\n

Landman previously shot in warehouses that would be gutted and converted to suit filming needs, Glasser said, <\/b>noting that all of the infrastructure is now under one roof. <\/p>\n

Hillwood, the owner of the 27,000-acre AllianceTexas development, which also includes an airport and residential and retail spaces, put up $65 million to build the studio. <\/p>\n

Sheridan first emerged on the company\u2019s radar in 2022, when it began to notice more and more that his star-studded projects were being taped across North Texas, according to Mike Berry, president of Hillwood. <\/p>\n

Berry lauded the campus\u2019 proximity to both urban and rural landscapes, which provide variation for location scouts. <\/p>\n

Sheridan has also shot frequently at the AllianceTexas airport, Berry said. \u201cAll they have to do is just take the crew across the street [and] set up the scene, which ultimately saves them a lot of money.\u201d <\/p>\n

Phase two on the horizon<\/p>\n

Fort Worth Mayor Mattie Parker, who has been a vocal advocate for the city\u2019s TV and film industry, praised the studio\u2019s potential to lure productions, saying it \u201cbodes well for our future.\u201d <\/p>\n

The location represents the first phase in a planned series of production campuses at AllianceTexas. <\/p>\n

A second campus could add between 400,000 and 500,000 of square footage in sound stages and support space, Berry said. <\/p>\n

The expansion will also include an occupation and educational center, Glasser said. 101 Studios has partnered with Tarrant County College<\/a> since 2023 on a workplace development program that trains students on how to be crew members with lessons around set design, makeup, wardrobe and lighting. <\/p>\n

Although the new campus primarily serves Sheridan\u2019s shows, Glasser said studios and industry colleagues who have caught wind of the development are raising their hands to ask if there is room for them, too. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe answer is yes,\u201d he said, \u201cas soon as the next phase is open and running.\u201d <\/p>\n
