At just 18 years of age, Mboko won the title in Montreal<\/a> and defeated four Grand Slam champions along the way.<\/p>\n

Mboko became the second-youngest player since Serena Williams<\/a> to achieve that feat and she beamed with pride while holding up her first WTA title on home soil.<\/p>\n

Now Victoria Mboko\u2019s<\/a> attention will turn to the US Open<\/a>, where she will aim to make some more magic in the Big Apple.<\/p>\n

Following Mboko\u2019s Canadian Open<\/a> victory, fans will be keen to see if she can replicate her performances from Montreal at the US Open.<\/p>\n

She has an explosive and expansive game, and a resolute mindset that helped her win three deciding-set matches on her way to the title in Canada.<\/p>\n

Following her exploits in Montreal, Mboko is one of the players to watch heading into the US Open, where she is set to be seeded.<\/p>\n

With all the newfound buzz and expectation around her, which will be difficult for a young player to handle, Rennae Stubbs has urged fans to be patient and gentle with tennis\u2019 budding new superstar.<\/p>\n

\u201cGive her some grace, she is 18 \u2013 just like Andreeva \u2013 just like all these young players,\u201d the Australian said via her \u2018Renne Stubbs\u2019 podcast.<\/p>\n

\u201cShe is not going to light the world on fire every week, so make sure we support them through that and she is only going to get better.\u201d<\/p>\n

Mboko withdrew from the Cincinnati Open<\/a>, which started before the Canadian Open had concluded.<\/p>\n

The world number 24\u2019s coach Nathalie Tauziat explained that it was to ensure she arrives at the US Open injury-free, especially after she fell on her wrist against Elena Rybakina in Montreal.<\/p>\n

Stubbs agrees that tit was the right decision for Mboko to withdraw from Ohio, and she thinks she can cause some damage at the US Open.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am so glad she didn\u2019t play this week in Cincinnati because she had an issue with her hand or wrist when she fell against Rybakina but I\u2019m so glad she did not play,\u201d Stubbs said.<\/p>\n

\u201cDo the press, which she did, she was on Good Morning America and everything. Get going and get your head back for the US Open.
