Chicago\u2019s O\u2019Hare International Airport reached an all time June high in passenger traffic with over eight million travelers passing through the airport.<\/p>\n
It also marked the second busiest month for the airport in its 70 year history, only behind July 2019, the Mayor\u2019s Office said in a statement.<\/p>\n
\u201cO\u2019Hare\u2019s tremendous growth in passengers and operations this summer underscores Chicago\u2019s historic role as a critical travel hub,\u201d Mayor Brandon Johnson said in the statement. \u201cAs we welcome millions of travelers to our city, we proudly position Chicago not just as the world-class destination it is, but as a world-class gateway to destinations across the globe.<\/p>\n
O\u2019Hare saw an 8.72 percent increase in June passengers compared to June 2024, according to data from the Chicago Department of Aviation. June recorded more than 77,000 takeoffs and landings, a 13.45 percent jump from June of the previous year.<\/p>\n
In the first half of 2025, more than 40.1 million travelers passed through O\u2019Hare and TSA screening records have continued to break at O\u2019Hare this summer with nine daily screening records being set since June 19, officials said.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe record-breaking passenger volumes we\u2019re seeing at O\u2019Hare are a clear sign that travel to and from Chicago is not just back \u2014 it\u2019s booming,\u201d CDA Commissioner Michael J.
