{"id":143732,"date":"2025-08-14T00:35:12","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T00:35:12","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/143732\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T00:35:12","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T00:35:12","slug":"houston-weather-back-to-school-storm-chances","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/143732\/","title":{"rendered":"Houston weather: Back-to-school storm chances"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\"><strong>HOUSTON<\/strong> &#8211; Here&#8217;s what to expect for the rest of the week in Houston and beyond.<\/p>\n<p>   Summer warmth with scattered storms each day <\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">Back-to-school week continues, and the forecast is very similar to yesterday, with highs in the mid to upper 90s and a good chance for scattered afternoon storms &#8211; a few could be heavy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>  <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/slot1__22__720-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">The outlook for Thursday and Friday looks similar, with afternoon storms bringing a chance for a quick 1-2&#8243; of rain.<\/p>\n<p> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/3e0a6481-slot0__25__720.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/>  Tropical wave enters the Gulf <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/1b486d54-slot3__26__720.jpg\" alt=\"\" data-v-0dea8073=\"\"\/>  <\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">Elsewhere, a tropical wave is moving across the Yucat\u00e1n and will enter the southern Gulf tomorrow. The NHC gives this system a very low 10% chance of becoming a tropical depression.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">But overall, we expect an increase in moisture levels that could bring parts of our area some heavy downpours.<\/p>\n<p> Erin set to become first hurricane <\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">In the central Atlantic, Tropical Storm Erin is getting stronger and will likely become a major hurricane by this weekend. It is not a threat to Texas.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p data-v-7f0a623e=\"\">The East Coast will have to watch the system closely, but it looks like it will curve and stay offshore, so large waves may be the biggest concern.
