{"id":143852,"date":"2025-08-14T01:36:13","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T01:36:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/143852\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T01:36:13","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T01:36:13","slug":"stock-market-today-live-updates-37","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/143852\/","title":{"rendered":"Stock market today: Live updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Traders work on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) on August 12, 2025 in New York City. <\/p>\n<p>Spencer Platt | Getty Images News | Getty Images<\/p>\n<p>Stock futures were relatively unchanged on Wednesday after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.SPX\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/.IXIC\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq Composite<\/a> rallied to new records and as investors gear up for more data to assess the state of the U.S. economy.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@SP.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">S&amp;P 500 futures<\/a> were hovering around the flatline, as were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@ND.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Nasdaq 100 futures<\/a>. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/@DJ.1\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Futures<\/a> tied to the Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 13 points, or 0.03%.<\/p>\n<p>The moves come after a winning day on Wall Street, with the S&amp;P 500 and Nasdaq reaching new intraday and closing record highs on Wednesday for the second day in a row. Both indexes finished the session with a gain of 0.32% and 0.14%, respectively. The Dow Jones Industrial Average also rose 463.66 points, or 1.04%.<\/p>\n<p>Tuesday&#8217;s session had returned the broad market S&amp;P 500 and the tech-heavy Nasdaq to record territory on the back of a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/12\/cpi-inflation-report-july-2025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">cooler-than-expected inflation report<\/a> for July. That report stoked hopes among investors for a rate cut from the Federal Reserve at the end of its September policy meeting.<\/p>\n<p>More economic data releases are on the docket for Thursday. July&#8217;s producer price index reading \u2013 as well as jobless claims data for the week ended Aug. 9 \u2013 is slated for release at 8:30 a.m. ET. Economists polled by Dow Jones are expecting the measure of wholesale prices to show a 0.2% rise on the month. The index <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/07\/16\/ppi-inflation-report-june-2025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">had come in flat in June<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;After yesterday&#8217;s &#8216;not as bad as it could have been&#8217; July Consumer Price Index report, the equity markets are now in full &#8216;easing expectation&#8217; mode,&#8221; said CFRA Research&#8217;s chief investment strategist Sam Stovall. &#8220;Even though Thursday&#8217;s Producer Price Index (PPI) is projected to show increases on a month-over-month (M\/M) and year-over-year (Y\/Y) basis, we think investors will overlook them.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, in extended trading Wednesday, shares of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/quotes\/CSCO\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Cisco<\/a> were marginally lower after dropping more than 2% on the heels of the major tech company&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2025\/08\/13\/cisco-csco-q4-earnings-report-2025.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fourth-quarter results<\/a> narrowly beating expectations.
