It\u2019s official: Adom Industries is planting roots in Fort Worth.<\/strong><\/p>\n

After a unanimous City Council vote on Aug. 12 approving $15 million in incentives, Adom founder John Lauer says it\u2019s \u201cfull steam ahead\u201d on making the city the home of his $229 million headquarters-and-factory project.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are ready to plant our tree roots there and let those roots grow as deep as the Trinity aquifer,\u201d Lauer told Dallas Innovates after Tuesday\u2019s vote, noting the startup remains in stealth mode.<\/p>\n

The decision capped a competitive site search in which Fort Worth emerged as a leading contender, alongside locations including Arizona, Tennessee, and Oklahoma. Lauer said those options were still under consideration until the council\u2019s vote.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a notable win for a city working to expand its semiconductor and advanced manufacturing profile\u2014and for an entrepreneur with a track record of building and scaling.<\/p>\n

Lauer previously co-founded Zipwhip, the business texting pioneer that Twilio acquired in 2021 in a deal worth $952 million at closing. \u201cAdom,\u201d he says, \u201cshould be even bigger<\/a>.\u201d<\/p>\n

Bringing \u2018Shenzhen Speed\u2019 to the U.S. in Fort Worth<\/p>\n

Adom Industries is building what Lauer calls the world\u2019s first cloud-connected electronics prototyping factory. \u201cWe\u2019re a data center to a large degree,\u201d he said, \u201cbut for atoms, not bits.\u201d<\/p>\n

The concept allows engineers anywhere in the world to design, test, and prototype electronics remotely while robots in Fort Worth handle the physical work\u2014then ship prototypes nationwide, \u201covernight, when they need their prototype boards.\u201d<\/p>\n

The facility will sit in North Texas\u2019 logistics corridor, near Alliance and DFW airports, part of what drew Lauer to the region along with competitive electricity costs.<\/p>\n

His technology aims to solve a fundamental time problem: \u201cWhat takes minutes in software takes months in hardware.\u201d Today, many hardware engineers still travel to Shenzhen, China, to access dense supply chains and rapid-prototyping capacity.<\/p>\n

Adom\u2019s cloud-connected factory aims to compress those months-long development cycles into near real-time processes, with engineers working from their laptops while AI-connected robots handle testing and production at the Fort Worth facility.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis will be one of the most high-tech factories in the world,\u201d Lauer said in an earlier interview with Dallas Innovates.<\/p>\n

At Tuesday\u2019s council meeting, District 10 City Councilmember Alan Blaylock praised the project\u2019s potential impact. \u201cI\u2019m thrilled to move to approve this agreement to bring Adom Industries to Fort Worth,\u201d he said. \u201cAdom will develop and expand microelectronic prototyping in Fort Worth and create a semiconductor fabricating facility accessible through the cloud.\u201d<\/p>\n

Blaylock told the council, \u201cMore R&D activity will boost our GDP, attract specialized talent, [and] create opportunities for other companies that strengthen industry here,\u201d as he welcomed Lauer during the proceedings.<\/p>\n

\u201cYou\u2019ve been a real trooper, sticking out this whole meeting,\u201d Blaylock added, noting that the Adom vote came as the very last agenda item of the night. \u201cBut I think this is a high note to finish on.\u201d<\/p>\n

Councilmember Macy Hill, who seconded the motion, congratulated Lauer, who noted it was his first Fort Worth City Council meeting.<\/p>\n

Following the vote, city innovation coordinator Kelly Baggett, who works on Fort Worth\u2019s economic development innovation project, confirmed that the council\u2019s approval landed the deal to bring Adom\u2019s headquarters-and-factory project to Fort Worth.<\/p>\n

District 10 City Councilmember Blaylock added in an emailed statement that the Economic Development Program Agreement \u201csupports a cutting-edge project and positions Fort Worth at the forefront of technological innovation.<\/p>\n

\u201cI look forward to welcoming Adom Industries, the world\u2019s first AI native cloud factory, to North Fort Worth, and I\u2019m excited to see their platform revolutionize the microelectronics industry.\u201d<\/p>\n

$15M in performance-based grants<\/p>\n

The approved incentive package provides up to $15 million in performance-based grants over 15 years, tied to Adom\u2019s commitment to create 267 jobs with an average salary of $91,000 and invest more than $240 million in research and development.<\/p>\n

Adom plans to expand over four phases from 2027 to 2033, starting with its current Alliance Texas location at 4400 Alliance Gateway Freeway and growing into additional Fort Worth facilities.<\/p>\n

The company is also seeking $20 million from the Texas Semiconductor Investment Fund and $10 million from the National Science Foundation to support the project.<\/p>\n

Lauer envisions customers ranging from defense contractors and major semiconductor companies like Texas Instruments to healthcare firms, startups, and universities seeking cloud-based access to expensive testing equipment.<\/p>\n
