Daniel Levy looks set to back Thomas Frank heavily in the transfer market. <\/strong><\/p>\n The Spurs chairman has been subject to plenty of criticism over the years for his lack of spending, but that could be set to change as he looks to arm Frank with a squad capable of firing them back up the Premier League table next term. <\/p>\n Levy made a big call in dismissing Ange Postecoglou<\/a>, and he now has to ensure that he provides the resources to back up that decision. <\/p>\n Tottenham have been linked with the likes of Bryan Mbeumo<\/a> and Antoine Semenyo in recent weeks, in what could be a very transformative summer in N17. <\/p>\n For all of the big-money links to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium<\/a> in recent weeks, a far more modest deal has garnered attention in recent days. <\/p>\n Tottenham have reached an agreement to sign Kota Takai for \u00a35million<\/a>, in what looks set to become the record sale from the Japanese J. League. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n The Kawasaki Frontale youngster has shown plenty of promise in the last few years, and that has been recognised by Levy<\/a> and Co., who are now ready to bring him to North London. <\/p>\n Takai will arrive at Spurs as an unknown to the majority of the fanbase, but he has been described by Kenta Hagiwara, who co-owns The Asian Football Show podcast, as an \u201celite defender.\u201d<\/p>\n Speaking exclusively to Tottenham News<\/strong>, the Asian football expert has heaped praise on Spurs\u2019 likely acquisition. <\/p>\n \u201cFrom a stats standpoint, Takai is an elite defender,\u201d Hagiwara said. \u201cHe\u2019s one of the better centre-backs in the J. League in terms of defensive actions, blocks, and tackles. And he\u2019s only 20 years old.<\/p>\n \u201cI think he can probably contribute and put in good minutes at Premier League level. All the general traits that you\u2019d want from a young centre-back are there for him to succeed, but you can never truly be sure that a player\u2019s skillset translates well into any given league.<\/p>\n \u201cTakai is a really, really good defender. He has good defensive instincts and a good understanding of timing in his tackles.
