\n\tAmy Poehler<\/a> recently took accountability for her problematic \u201cSaturday Night Live\u201d characters while talking to former cast member Will Forte on her \u201cGood Hang\u201d podcast. Poehler said that every comedian who has appeared on \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d over the years has \u201cplayed people that we should not have played\u201d and \u201cthe part about getting older and being in comedy is you have to, like, figure out, \u2018Oh, it\u2019s like everything has an expiration date.\u2019\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cThere was even on [\u2018SNL50\u2019], when they had that segment which was like, \u2018Here\u2019s all the ways we got things wrong,\u2019 and they showed way inappropriate casting for people,\u201d Poehler added. \u201cWe all played people that we should not have played. I misappropriated, I appropriated\u2026I didn\u2019t know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tPoehler was referring to the \u201cSNL50\u201d sketch<\/a> in which Tom Hanks introduced an In Memoriam segment calling out the many problematic jokes and sketches \u201cSNL\u201d has aired. The montage of poorly-aged bits includes jokes about sexual harassment and such infamous moments as Adrien Brody sporting dreadlocks and a Jamaican accent.<\/p>\n

\n\t\u201cEven though these characters, accents and \u2026 let\u2019s just call them \u2018ethnic\u2019 wigs were unquestionably in poor taste, you all laughed at them,\u201d Tom Hanks said in a winking moment at the audience. \u201cSo if anyone should be canceled, shouldn\u2019t it be\u00a0you, the audience? Something to think about.\u201d<\/p>\n

\n\tSpeaking to Forte on her podcast, Poehler added: \u201cThe best thing you can do is make repairs, learn from your mistakes, do better. It\u2019s all you can do.\u201d<\/p>\n
