He said, \u201cPizza, of course.\u201d He then proceeded to tell me that, out of discipline, he hasn\u2019t had a slice in 13 years.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>I believe life is too short for that nonsense, so I\u2019m dedicating this column to pizza places around Fort Worth to see if I can lure him back to the dark side.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Two of these pizzerias are franchises that let their crusts rise for several days, which they both say yields a better product. I don\u2019t know if this is true or not, however, and I take fact-checking very seriously, so I guess I\u2019ll have to conduct some hands-on pizza crust research for journalistic reasons. You may scoff, but just wait. This is how I\u2019ll earn my Pulitzer.<\/p>\n<p>Also, if my coach is reading this, I was mostly joking about that \u201cdark side\u201d thing. Please don\u2019t make me do dumbbells.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Hideaway Pizza opening in Fort Worth Aug. 18<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The pizzeria with locations across North Texas, Oklahoma and Arkansas announced last week they\u2019ll open a Fort Worth location near Alliance 11 a.m. Aug. 18 \u2014 just in time for the lunch rush. Hideaway Pizza\u2019s big thing is they age their crusts for \u201cat least three days,\u201d according to their website.<\/p>\n<p>Their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hideawaypizza.com\/menu\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">menu<\/a> shows sandwiches, baked pastas, salads and desserts, as well as four breaded and fried starters: mushrooms, pickles, mozzarella sticks and ravioli. Freeway, Fort Worth; 817-677-0377<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Vegan pizzeria makes comeback<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>After <a href=\"https:\/\/pizzaverdetx.com\/?fbclid=IwY2xjawMCUHZleHRuA2FlbQIxMABicmlkETFPSVBCbHhHTUY1RjZ0d3h6AR5gGQSVPX13Xn3-N1NxkIyxo_cexQSp4GLxQOUVI_LD-AH9p-ugkw4E34GrGA_aem_TuK2sf5F74oLXJHruMjtsw\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Pizza Verde<\/a> closed in late June, co-founders Jennifer and Landon Cabarubio sold merch and made investor calls in hope of reopening the vegan eatery. Jennifer said they now have new equity partners and are aiming for a grand opening Sept. 4, although they hope to have a soft opening before the end of August. In the meantime, they\u2019re redecorating, rehiring and writing up a new menu, which will remain plant-forward.<\/p>\n<p>Jennifer said the team is excited for their new partnership and that Pizza Verde will expand its wholesale frozen pizza operations while adding weekend brunch and Thursday wine and cheese specials to its Thursday-Sunday schedule.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy growing the wholesale component of our business, we plan to be here in Fort Worth (for) a long, long time,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Pizza Verde makes their own dairy-free almond mozzarella cheese and has gluten-free options.<\/p>\n<p><strong>5716 Locke Ave., Fort Worth; 817-349-9852<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Pop-up business offers ultra-spicy pizza<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Those looking to support a small business can grab some slices from Pancho\u2019s Pinche Pizza Aug. 16 and 17 at HopFusion Ale Works brewery on East Broadway Avenue. The pop-up is run by a father and son duo and recently served up the sauce at Dallas Pizza Fest. Diners can place online orders and schedule a pick up or visit during one of their regular appearances at the brewery. They post schedule updates on their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/p\/DLL3L5Sx_Z8\/?hl=en\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">social media<\/a> pages.<\/p>\n<p>Among their most popular options are the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panchospinchepizza.com\/?item=22#most-popular\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">El Borrachon<\/a> \u2013\u2013 a borracho bean-based pizza with Oaxaca cheese and smoked salsa verde \u2013 and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.panchospinchepizza.com\/?location=11ef0834f6bd0daf941e3cecef6dbac6&amp;menu=&amp;item=25\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">La Toxica<\/a>, a flaming hot pie featuring candied jalape\u00f1os, San Marzano sauce and a Mike\u2019s Hot Honey drizzle, according to staff.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>200 E. Broadway Ave., Fort Worth<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Hot sauce-inspired pizza at Mister O1<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Mister O1 Extraordinary<a href=\"https:\/\/www.mistero1.com\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> Pizza<\/a> is serving a limited-time pie called <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/reel\/729101229952918\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">the Cloud23<\/a> at their Mansfield, Grapevine and Flower Mound locations until around mid-November, according to an Alliance location staff member. The pizza is centered on the hot sauce with which it shares a name and also topped with Italian tomato sauce, burrata, stracciatella cheese, bacon and basil.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Like Hideaway Pizza, Mister O1 lets their crusts rest for at least 72 hours. Those with dietary restrictions can modify their pizzas with gluten-free vegan crust and vegan cheese. Their <a href=\"https:\/\/mister01extraordinarypizza.toast.site\/order\/mister-o1-extraordinary-pizza-dallas-grapevine\/item-cloud-23_a76cdc99-dbd3-469b-9b6d-c5ad6b4e5ebd\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">online ordering system<\/a> allows diners to specify if they have meat, seafood, soy, egg, lactose, wheat or pork allergies.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The pizza restaurant will soon open another Fort Worth location off 7th Street. Marketing coordinator Chris Brooke said they\u2019re aiming for a Sept. 16 opening, but there\u2019s a chance the date could be pushed back.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>2828 N.
