{"id":145461,"date":"2025-08-14T15:59:09","date_gmt":"2025-08-14T15:59:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/145461\/"},"modified":"2025-08-14T15:59:09","modified_gmt":"2025-08-14T15:59:09","slug":"west-u-city-council-advances-first-phase-of-citys-west-side-road-reconstruction","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/145461\/","title":{"rendered":"West U City Council advances first phase of city\u2019s west side road reconstruction"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\t\t\t\tA multiphase, multiyear roadway reconstruction project to address longstanding street damage in West University Place\u2019s west side is moving forward after City Council unanimously approved more than $216,000 in design contract work with IDS Engineering Group at the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westutx.gov\/AgendaCenter\/ViewFile\/Agenda\/_08112025-1238\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Aug. 11 City Council meeting<\/a>. The entire reconstruction project cost was listed at $2.89 million in the city\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westutx.gov\/ArchiveCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/633\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fiscal year 2024-25 budget.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><b>Funding the project<\/b><\/p>\n<p>The approved contract is below the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westutx.gov\/ArchiveCenter\/ViewFile\/Item\/633\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">city\u2019s budgeted amount of $241,000<\/a> within its Capital Improvement Program budget, according to agenda documents.<\/p>\n<p>City Manager Dave Beach said for the project\u2019s construction phase, staff is looking into potential federal grant funding with local state representatives.
