Paxton said the quid pro quo arrangements tainted millions of dollars of claims to Texas Medicaid.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit accuses Eli Lilly of providing doctors offices with free nurses to conduct patient-care services. That work is largely unprofitable and time-consuming; the nurses allow doctors to see more patients and write more prescriptions. Straight Facts\u2122.\t\t<\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-block-san-app-download__subtitle\">\n\t\t\tPoint phone camera here\t\t<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBig Pharma compromised medical decision-making by engaging in an illegal kickback scheme,\u201d Paxton said in a statement. \u201cEli Lilly fraudulently sought to maximize profits at taxpayer expense and put corporate greed over people\u2019s health.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The drugs covered under the alleged kick-pack scheme include:\u00a0<\/p>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Basaglar (diabetes)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Ebglyss (eczema)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li>Mounjaro (type 2 diabetes and <a href=\"https:\/\/san.com\/cc\/weight-loss-drugs-could-soon-be-covered-by-medicare-and-medicaid\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">weight loss<\/a>)\u00a0<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/san.com\/cc\/zepbound-beats-wegovy-for-weight-loss-in-first-head-to-head-trial-of-glp-1-drugs\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zepbound<\/a> (obesity and obstructive sleep apnea)\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The company is accused of violating the Texas Anti-Kickback Statute, which makes it illegal to directly or indirectly pay a bribe, in cash or in kind, to recommend the purchase of a product.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Eli Lilly said the US government determined in a prior case that the Texas AG\u2019s allegations lack sufficient factual and legal support.
