Here\u2019s how to apply"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">AT&amp;T customers whose information was stolen in two separate <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/watchdog\/2025\/08\/03\/att-protect-advantage-billing-error-data-breach-asurion-apology\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/news\/watchdog\/2025\/08\/03\/att-protect-advantage-billing-error-data-breach-asurion-apology\/\">data breaches<\/a> can apply for their share \u2014 up to $7,500 \u2014 of a $177 million settlement.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The Dallas-based company agreed to settle a class action lawsuit following data breaches last year that resulted in the leak of sensitive information of millions of customers.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/2024\/03\/30\/att-notifies-users-of-data-breach-and-resets-millions-of-passcodes\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/2024\/03\/30\/att-notifies-users-of-data-breach-and-resets-millions-of-passcodes\/\">first breach<\/a>, announced in March 2024, affected 73 million current and former AT&amp;T customers whose information \u2014 including names, birth dates and Social Security Numbers \u2014 leaked onto the dark web, opening them up to potential identity fraud. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">A <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2024\/07\/12\/att-breach-involving-2022-customer-data-caused-by-third-party-threat-actor\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/business\/technology\/2024\/07\/12\/att-breach-involving-2022-customer-data-caused-by-third-party-threat-actor\/\">second breach<\/a>, announced in July 2024, exposed the records of calls and text messages of nearly all AT&amp;T wireless customers as well as customers of mobile virtual network operators hosted by AT&amp;T servers, like Cricket Wireless or StraightTalk. Affected customers should have received an email notifying them they are eligible. To file a claim, customers must have a \u201cClass Member ID,\u201d included in the email from settlement administrator Kroll. <\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Check your spam folder or other email filters if you cannot find the email. If you are not sure whether you are included, Kroll recommends calling 833-890-4930 or sending a letter to AT&amp;T Data Incident Settlement; c\/o Kroll Settlement Administration LLC; P.O. Box 5324; New York, NY 10150-5324. Some customers have said on social media they also had luck filling out the <a href=\"https:\/\/att-prod-forms.ksacms.com\/efiling\/fr\/contactus\/ATT_Data_Incident_Settlement_ContactUs\/new?form-version=1&amp;case_code=83231\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/att-prod-forms.ksacms.com\/efiling\/fr\/contactus\/ATT_Data_Incident_Settlement_ContactUs\/new?form-version=1&amp;case_code=83231\">Contact Us<\/a> form on the settlement administrator\u2019s website.<\/p>\n<p>How much could you get?<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Customers whose data was exposed in the first breach are eligible for up to $5,000 if they can show financial losses with supporting documents. Customers affected by the second breach could receive up to $2,500 if they can show documented losses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Without documentation, customers can apply for what Kroll called a Tier 3 payment. The amount will depend on the funds remaining after other costs and claims have been paid.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">A final hearing to approve the settlement is set for Dec. 3. It is not clear when payments will be distributed, but the claim administrator asked customers for patience.<\/p>\n<p>Data security<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/att\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.dallasnews.com\/topic\/att\/\">AT&amp;T<\/a> has more than 100 million customers in the U.S. and almost 2.5 million business accounts.<\/p>\n<p class=\"body-text-paragraph\">Digital privacy is a growing issue, and online users should be cautious of data theft.
