Call it a symphony for dissolution. American\u00a0thrash metal giants Megadeth\u00a0have announced their forthcoming album will be their last.<\/p>\n
They will also embark on a farewell tour in 2026.<\/p>\n
\u201cThere\u2019s so many musicians that have come to the end of their career, whether accidental or intentional,\u201d Megadeth founder and\u00a0frontman Dave Mustaine\u00a0shared in a statement Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cMost of them don\u2019t get to go out on their own terms on top, and that\u2019s where I\u2019m at in my life right now. I have traveled the world and have made millions upon millions of fans and the hardest part of all of this is saying goodbye to them.\u201d<\/p>\n
Mustaine and the band have yet to reveal the final album\u2019s title, release date or the band\u2019s remaining tour dates.<\/p>\n
His statement continued, with the frontman writing that now is the perfect time for the band to release a final album and embark on their final tour.<\/p>\n
\u201cDon\u2019t be mad, don\u2019t be sad, be happy for us all, come celebrate with me these next few years. We have done something together that\u2019s truly wonderful and will probably never happen again,\u201d he wrote.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe started a musical style, we started a revolution, we changed the guitar world and how it\u2019s played, and we changed the world. The bands I played in have influenced the world. I love you all for it. Thank you for everything.\u201d<\/p>\n
The statement arrived after the band shared a teaser post on Wednesday that read \u201cThe end is near\u2026\u201d<\/p>\n
Megadeth was founded in 1983 after Mustaine was\u00a0kicked out of Metallica,\u00a0a band he co-founded.
