Joe Milton<\/a><\/strong> will be the starting quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys in their upcoming preseason game against the Baltimore Ravens. Jon Machota of The Athletic <\/a>shared the news and also added that first-round pick, right guard Tyler Booker<\/a><\/strong>, will play in the game against the Ravens after not playing in the preseason opener.<\/p>\n

Milton was the starting QB in the Cowboys\u2019 preseason opener against the Los Angeles Rams last week. The former Tennessee Volunteers <\/a>star completed 17 of 29 passes for 143 yards with one touchdown and one interception in the 31-21 loss. <\/p>\n

Milton is looking to be the Cowboys\u2019 backup quarterback after the team traded for him in April. The New England Patriots selected Milton in the sixth round and last year\u2019s draft, and he played in one game, completing 22 of 29 passes with two total touchdowns.<\/p>\n

Earlier this week, Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer<\/a><\/strong> was asked about Milton potentially being the Cowboys\u2019 backup QB. The coach took issue with the question.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhy do we have to decide that today? We don\u2019t have to decide that today\u2026\u201d Schottenheimer said on Monday, per Tommy Yarrish of DallasCowboys.com.<\/a><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u2019re going to let these guys all compete, and it\u2019s not a negative against Will Grier<\/a><\/strong> that he\u2019s not getting the reps,\u201d Schottenheimer said. \u201cI\u2019ve been around Will Grier for a couple years now. We know who Will Grier is. We are not surprised when he goes in and does that. It\u2019s figuring out more of Joe Milton, it\u2019s the unknown more than the competition.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Cowboys selected Tyler Booker at No. 12 overall in this year\u2019s draft. He is currently listed as the starting right guard in the latest official depth chart, meaning the Cowboys believe he will make an impact right away.<\/p>\n

\u201cA guy who loves football,\u201d Cowboys QB Dak Prescott <\/a><\/strong>said of Booker in May, per DallasCowboys.com. <\/a>\u201cWhen you all interviewed him or anybody interviewed him, you hear it through his answers how much it means to him.
