The game, which tips at 7 p.m. PT, will air nationally on ION.<\/p>\n<p><strong>MILESTONE WATCH:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>A\u2019ja Wilson<\/strong> (502) needs 4 more blocks to pass <strong>Ruth Riley<\/strong> (505) for No. 9 on the league\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.acrossthetimeline.com\/wnba\/records.html#limit=10&amp;record=blocks&amp;type=career\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">all-time blocks list<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Aces are currently 5th in the league standings, only one game behind the fourth-seeded Phoenix. Loyd, who has hit 35.1% of her career 3-point attempts, is making a career fourth-best 37.9% beyond the arc and is even more accurate (51.4%) <a href=\"https:\/\/stats.wnba.com\/players\/shooting\/?Season=2025&amp;SeasonType=Regular%20Season&amp;DistanceRange=By%20Zone&amp;sort=Left%20Corner%203%20FGM&amp;dir=1&amp;PerMode=Totals&amp;CF=Left%20Corner%203%20FGM*GE*5\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">from the left corner 3<\/a>. Loyd\u2019s accuracy in that area helped the Aces combine for 39.6% from that \u00a0corner, which is good for <a href=\"https:\/\/stats.wnba.com\/teams\/shooting\/?Season=2023&amp;SeasonType=Regular%20Season&amp;DistanceRange=By%20Zone&amp;PerMode=Totals&amp;sort=Left%20Corner%203%20FG%20PCT&amp;dir=1\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">5th in the league<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>After shooting 5 of 24 (.208) over a 4-game span from Aug. 2 to 8, <strong>Dana Evans<\/strong> has connected on 63.6% (7-11 FGs) the past 2 games and was inserted into the starting lineup on Aug. 13.<\/p>\n<p>Las Vegas, which has led the league in field goal shooting in the paint the past 2 seasons, is shooting a league-high 44.7% (361-730 FGs) in the paint (non-restricted area) \u2014 led by Wilson\u2019s league-best 107 field goals made. The Aces have also been in the top 3 in the mid-range game over the past 4 seasons and are currently 2nd (.410) this season.<\/p>\n<p>The Mercury are 4-5 after the All-Star break, but won 3 out of its last 4 games. <strong>Alyssa Thomas<\/strong>, who is averaging 16.1 points, leads the league in assists (9 apg) and is third in the league in rebounds (8.7 rpg).<\/p>\n<p>One addition to the Mercury\u2019s roster is the signing of two-time WNBA Champion <strong>DeWanna Bonner<\/strong> on July 8. Bonner, who played 9 games with Indiana, is since averaging 11.9 points and 4.7 rebounds in 24.2 minutes. She enters Friday\u2019s contest averaging 19 points on 47.2% shooting and 42.1% from 3-point land over the last 3 games. Phoenix is 6-6 since Bonner joined.<\/p>\n<p>Per Elias, <strong>Sami Whitcomb<\/strong> has scored 87 points from 29 3-pointers when assisted by Thomas this season \u2014 the <a href=\"https:\/\/accesselias.esb.com\/WNBA\/Tools\/PlayerPXPCombo?gameClass=REG\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">most amount of 3\u2019s made by a scorer\/assist player combo in 2025<\/a>. <strong>Chelsea Gray <\/strong>and Loyd are 2nd on the list as Loyd has scored 81 points from 3-point off of 27 assists by Gray.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LAST TIME(S) OUT: <\/strong>In the previous two matchups, the Aces averaged 77 points, 37 rebounds and 17 assists. The June 15 game, however, saw a season-high 22 Aces turnovers. Rookie <strong>Aaliyah Nye<\/strong> is averaging 9 points on 50% field goal shooting and 62.5% from distance against the Mercury this season. <strong>Megan Gustafson<\/strong> (lower left leg) was not on the active roster and <strong>NaLyssa Smith<\/strong> was signed a day after the second meeting.<\/p>\n<p><strong>UP NEXT<\/strong>: The Aces return home for another 3-game home stand, starting with the Dallas Wings (9-24) on Sunday, Aug. 17, at Michelob ULTRA Arena. The game will tip off at 12:30 p.m. PT and air nationally on ABC.
