Margaret Qualley<\/a> on Thursday revealed that she tried to set up her mother Andie Macdowell<\/a> on a date with her former \u201cGroundhog Day\u201d co-star Bill Murray<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Qualley \u2014 who appeared on \u201cThe Tonight Show<\/a>\u201d on the same day Murray performed with Pedrito Mart\u00ednez Group \u2014 used a game of \u201cTruth or Dare\u201d with Jimmy Fallon<\/a> to spill on her backstage encounter with the \u201cSNL<\/a>\u201d icon, who was wearing a Piggly Wiggly supermarket shirt.<\/p>\n

\u201cI grew up in North Carolina and Piggly Wiggly\u2019s a southern thing … I find out he\u2019s living in Charleston, [South Carolina], my mom\u2019s living in Charleston,\u201d said the \u201cHoney Don\u2019t!\u201d star.<\/p>\n

Qualley then began to laugh as she recalled Murray telling her that he and her mom \u201cdidn\u2019t get along so good\u201d during the making of the movie, which hit theaters well over a year before she was born in 1994.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe was like, \u2018You know, she took a long time to get her hair done and she didn\u2019t know her lines this one time,\u2019 and I was like, \u2018Yeah, well, I heard a different story sir,\u2019\u201d Qualley remarked.<\/p>\n

She added that she began to put \u201ctwo and two together\u201d as Macdowell and Murray now live in the same city and, despite showing a sort of \u201crage\u201d toward each other, she thought Murray may be trying to make amends.<\/p>\n

\u201cAnd I\u2019m like, \u2018She\u2019s single, he\u2019s single, they\u2019re both crazy, let\u2019s get it together!\u2019\u201d declared Qualley to Fallon\u2019s delight.<\/p>\n

She noted that she told Murray he could \u201ccircle back\u201d with her if he\u2019d like to get in touch with her mom.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf he\u2019s got any sense at all, he\u2019d be the luckiest guy in the world!\u201d said Qualley, adding that she hopes Murray was \u201clistening\u201d to the interview.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\u201cGroundhog Day\u201d notably had its share of challenges as Murray and director Harold Ramis, a longtime collaborator, clashed on set and had a falling out<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two eventually reconciled shortly before Ramis\u2019 death in 2014.<\/p>\n

Back in 2023, producer Trevor Albert told The Hollywood Reporter<\/a> that it was a \u201ctense\u201d shoot and therefore \u201cless fun to make\u201d due to the rift.<\/p>\n

\u201cBut you can still make a very good movie when people are not in perfect harmony,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Macdowell, nonetheless, has talked highly of her time on set with Murray, once describing him as a \u201cjerk\u201d who can still make you laugh<\/a> and recalling her commitment to playing an \u201chonest\u201d character in news producer Rita Hanson opposite of Murray\u2019s sarcastic yet likable character in Phil Connors.<\/p>\n

In January, Macdowell told Fallon about a time when Murray drove off with her in the car and left the set entirely.<\/p>\n
