As a low-pressure system near the Gulf is still disorganized, will move into the Texas, Mexico border, the moisture reaching SE Texas. <\/p>\n<p>It now has 50% chance over the next two days of forming into a storm<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Downpours start southwest of Harris county Friday morning, so expect a dry morning commute for most.<\/p>\n<p>Storms begin to develop southwest of Harris County<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Friday afternoon storms approach Houston, bringing the risk for downpours. SE Texas gets a lull from rain chances Friday evening before storms return Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Showers and storms move north across Harris County<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">There is a low flood threat Friday as rain could dump around 2 inches with some thunderstorms. <\/p>\n<p>1\/4 &#8211; street flooding possible with downpours<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Temperatures remain hot, so stay hydrated. <\/p>\n<p>Friday&#8217;s Forecast<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Check out our current radar below. <\/p>\n<p><b>Saturday\u2019s Forecast: <\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Saturday, possibly another round of tropical downpours affecting Texans game tailgates. Tailgating could be stormy at times, so have some rain gear if you\u2019re setting up in the lots at NRG Stadium!<\/p>\n<p>Storms possible<b>Tracking the tropics:<\/b> <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">The 5th named storm has formed in the Atlantic, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/weather\/2025\/08\/11\/tropical-storm-erin-forms-in-the-eastern-atlantic-basin-expected-to-become-a-major-hurricane-as-it-heads-west\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.click2houston.com\/weather\/2025\/08\/11\/tropical-storm-erin-forms-in-the-eastern-atlantic-basin-expected-to-become-a-major-hurricane-as-it-heads-west\/\">Tropical Storm Erin<\/a>. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Erin is forecast to become a hurricane midweek and rapidly intensify over the weekend into a Category 3 hurricane, which would be our first hurricane of the season. <\/p>\n<p>Erin continues to gain strength as it moves across the Atlantic<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Right now, the model consensus is that the storm will take a northerly turn away from the Caribbean by the weekend. <\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">Two things that will determine if the storm moves more east or northwest are the Bermuda High and an upper-level trough that will set up across the east coast of the United States. <\/p>\n<p>Steering currents for Tropical Storm Erin (Copyright 2025 by KPRC Click2Houston &#8211; All rights reserved.)<\/p>\n<p class=\"dist__Box-sc-1fnzlkn-0 dist__TextBase-sc-1fnzlkn-3 bYFsJw cuqaEv article-text\">If the trough is strong enough, the storm system will have a great chance to get pushed away from the East Coast.
