PHOENIX \u2013 First Solar, the largest solar technology company in the United States, will relocate its Tempe-based offices seven miles north to central Phoenix.<\/p>\n

The new offices will be housed on the second floor of The Grove, an office building at 44th Street and Camelback Road, which also houses tenants like PWC and JP Morgan. First Solar\u2019s offices will be 18,725 square feet, or around 2.5% of The Grove\u2019s total space.<\/p>\n

The news comes after First Solar\u2019s second quarter results were \u201creceived positively,\u201d according to Yahoo! Finance<\/a>. CEO Mark Widmar said the company \u201cprogressed our domestic capacity expansion during the quarter,\u201d with $1.10 billion in revenue reported.<\/p>\n

Christine Mackay, Phoenix\u2019s director of community and economic development, said First Solar staying in the Valley signals the city\u2019s commitment towards \u201clong-term economic growth and innovation.\u201d First Solar\u2019s Samantha Sloan added, \u201cWe look forward to placing our Arizona-based team in a setting designed for performance and flexibility.\u201d<\/p>\n

First Solar opened its doors in Tempe in 1999.<\/p>\n

RED Development oversees The Grove\u2019s development and offices, alongside other city spaces like Biltmore Fashion Park, Chandler Gateway and Downtown Phoenix\u2019s CityScape.\u00a0 The company\u2019s managing partner, Mike Ebert called First Solar\u2019s move \u201ca strong addition,\u201d adding \u201cthe demand we\u2019re seeing speaks to the appeal of a mixed-use environment.\u201d<\/p>\n
