The Ontario Provincial Police say a teenage girl is dead and three other girls were hurt after a single watercraft collision on an Ontario lake.<\/p>\n

OPP said they were called to Lake St. Clair near Coutour Beach in the Municipality of Lakeshore, just east of Windsor, on Thursday at around 2 p.m.<\/p>\n
First responders rescued four teens from the lake with the help of nearby residents, OPP said.<\/p>\n
A 17-year-old girl from Essex County was taken to hospital where she died from her injuries, police said.<\/p>\n
OPP said a 16-year-old girl was taken to hospital but was then airlifted to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

A third and fourth teen, a 15-year-old girl and 17-year-old girl, were taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.<\/p>\n

There were no other watercrafts involved.<\/p>\n

The OPP reported at the end of July that 10 people have died in marine incidents in eastern Ontario<\/a>\u00a0so far this summer \u2014 more than double the number recorded by this time last year.<\/p>\n The warning comes amid a series of devastating incidents that have already taken place in Ontario waters.<\/p>\n At a provincial park beach in Lake Erie, a 35-year-old\u00a0man from Woodstock, Ont., drowned<\/a> while trying to save his daughter. She survived, but his body was recovered the following day.<\/p>\n In another tragic incident, an 18-year-old swimmer was pulled<\/a>\u00a0from Ipperwash Beach unresponsive and later died in hospital.<\/p>\n
