New York City offers free tutoring and homework help for kids of all ages regardless of their immigration status.<\/p>\n<p>UFT Dial-A-Teacher (K\u201312)<\/p>\n<p>This <a href=\"https:\/\/dialateacher.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">free homework help service hotline<\/a> is a collaboration between the United Federation of Teachers and the New York City Department of Education. Any New York City public school student or parent can call the phone line and be connected with a qualified teacher for one-on-one homework help. Students can drop by to access homework help and fun activities, plus snacks! <\/p>\n<p><strong>When?<\/strong> Monday to Thursday from 2 to 7 p.m. when school is in session.\u00a0<br \/><strong>Where? <\/strong>Various libraries across Manhattan, the Bronx and Staten Island. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nypl.org\/remote-learning-resources\/nypl-after-school\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">See the full list here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p>COMPASS: In-person after-school programs<\/p>\n<p>COMPASS NYC stands for <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nyc.gov\/site\/dycd\/services\/after-school\/comprehensive-after-school-system-of-new-york-city-compass.page\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Comprehensive After School System<\/a> of New York City. It\u2019s the city\u2019s largest after-school program \u2014 and it\u2019s free as it\u2019s funded by the Department of Youth &amp; Community Development (DYCD).<\/p>\n<p>This program provides daily homework help, tutoring, and academic enrichment for students in kindergarten through 5th grade. Students also get snacks, fun clubs and activities and field trips. <\/p>\n<p>COMPASS is widely available throughout NYC, but not every public school hosts it. To confirm if your child\u2019s school offers it, you can ask your child\u2019s teacher or dial 311 and ask for assistance with the Comprehensive After School Program.<\/p>\n<p><strong>When? <\/strong>After school until around 6 p.m. every school day. The platform connects students with volunteer tutors for personalized academic support in math, writing and reading.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><strong>Where? <\/strong>Visit their main website and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.learntobe.org\/enroll\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">click on enroll a student<\/a> to fill out the online form.
