New York state Attorney General Letitia James is calling on Instagram to remove location sharing for minors.<\/p>\n
James is one of 37 attorneys general that are asking Meta, which owns Instagram, to make the change. Instagram’s recent move allows users to enable real-time locations on a map.<\/p>\n
The attorneys general said this puts vulnerable people at risk, including children and survivors of domestic violence, and makes it easier for potential stalkers.<\/p>\n
The attorneys general are asking Meta to remove the feature for minors and educate adults on the risks.\u00a0<\/p>\n
According to Meta, location sharing is off unless you opt in.
