It\u2019s been a big week for the horror genre, with Jason Voorhees officially returning to the screen for the first time in 16 years and Zach Cregger\u2019s Weapons hitting a $100 million milestone at the box office. This week also saw the premiere of the Alien franchise\u2019s first ever television series, with TWELVE horror movies being unleashed this week alongside FX\u2019s \u201cAlien: Earth.\u201d<\/p>\n

Eden Campbell<\/strong>\u00a0(Fear Street: Part Two \u2014 1978),\u00a0Jason Brooks<\/strong>\u00a0(The Death of Snow White) and\u00a0Nigel Vona<\/strong>\u00a0(The Chronicles of Riddick) star in horror film Die\u2019ced: Reloaded.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s a TV series rather than a movie but we can\u2019t not mention creator Noah Hawley\u2019s <\/strong>\u201cAlien: Earth<\/strong>,\u201d which premiered with the first TWO episodes on FX and Hulu this past Tuesday.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlien: Earth\u00a0is off to an enjoyable, unpredictable start that\u2019s already so much better than some paint-by-numbers\u00a0Alien\u00a0series,\u201d Daniel Kurland writes in his\u00a0review of the first two episodes<\/a>\u00a0for BD. \u201cWhen all these scorpions under glass finally strike it will be well worth the wait.\u201d<\/p>\n

Writer-director\u00a0Adam Finberg<\/strong> makes his narrative feature debut with Star People<\/strong>, which hit VOD outlets at home this week after getting a limited theatrical release in July.<\/p>\n

The film is inspired by the Phoenix Lights, the largest mass UFO sighting in U.S. history. That same infamous 1997 event has inspired several other movies, including 2007\u2019s Night Skies<\/strong>, 2015\u2019s\u00a0The Phoenix Incident<\/strong>, and 2017\u2019s\u00a0Phoenix Forgotten<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Star People tells the story of a photographer who receives a tip that could finally shed light on her childhood UFO sighting, but a deadly heatwave and unexpected guests threaten to derail her obsessive search for answers.<\/p>\n

What is\u00a0Sweet Revenge, you ask? Well, it\u2019s been described as a \u201cvignette\u201d by the team but it\u2019s really a full-on short film that serves to introduce the new Jason Universe branding as well as the fresh new redesign for the Jason Voorhees character. It\u2019s also part of a larger partnership between Jason Universe and\u00a0Angry Orchard Hard Cider<\/strong>, with special Jason Universe-branded Angry Orchard beverages and 12-packs being released in stores this Halloween season.<\/p>\n

The franchise\u2019s long-standing legal troubles have finally been cleared, and this marks the iconic slasher\u2019s first OFFICIAL appearance on screen since the 2009 remake of the original classic.<\/p>\n

Actor and stuntman\u00a0Schuyler White<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0wears the iconic hockey mask in director\u00a0Mike P. Nelson\u2019s<\/strong>\u00a0(Silent Night, Deadly Night) short film\u00a0Sweet Revenge, and you can watch the project in its entirety down below. Almost ten years after the film\u2019s original release,\u00a0Toho\u2019s\u00a0Shin Godzilla<\/strong> stomped into U.S. theaters with a brand new 4K remaster courtesy of Gkids beginning yesterday.<\/p>\n

The film has been released in its original Japanese language with subtitles, including restored text cards and a 4K remaster that has never before been released in North America.\u00a0<\/p>\n

We\u2019ve also learned that\u00a0Shin Godzilla\u00a0will come to 4K streaming<\/a>\u00a0courtesy of HBO Max sometime late this year or in 2026, with a\u00a0Deluxe Edition physical 4K release<\/a>\u00a0up for pre-order.<\/p>\n

Jimmy and Stiggs is now playing in theaters\u2026 Unrated!<\/p>\n

The indie horror film \u201cfollows a down-on-his-luck filmmaker (Begos) who claims he was abducted by aliens, vowing to bring them down alongside his friend (Matt Mercer<\/strong>).\u201d<\/p>\n

Witchboard is a remake of the same-titled horror movie from the 1980s.<\/p>\n

The new film is set in New Orleans and centers on a cursed artifact unleashes a vengeful witch, drawing a young couple into a deadly spiral of possession, temptation, and occult terror.<\/p>\n
