The Stefon Diggs experience reportedly isn\u2019t going well in New England.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Shortly after a tense exchange Thursday with Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel<\/a> over the star receiver\u2019s Week 1 availability, NBC Sports Boston\u2019s Phil Perry shed a bit more light on a new marriage that\u2019s already on shaky ground.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are little signs that he\u2019s just becoming a bit of a pain in the posterior,\u201d Perry said of Diggs when discussing Vrabel\u2019s outburst during the press conference on \u201cQuick Slants.\u201d \u201cFor Mike Vrabel to sort of have to be [Diggs\u2019] public relations assistant and tell us what he really meant in his commentary to a member of the national media, I don\u2019t know if that irks Mike Vrabel or if he\u2019s just looking to go back and forth with somebody in the media.\u201d<\/p>\n

Diggs signed a three-year, $63.5 million contract with the Patriots<\/a> in free agency after suffering a torn ACL last October when he played for the Texans.<\/p>\n

This week, the four-time Pro Bowler said he feels \u201cgreat\u201d and \u201cwe\u2019ll see about Week 1\u201d during an appearance on the \u201cScoop City\u201d podcast<\/a>, leaving fans and media to wonder if he will be on the field when the Patriots host the Raiders on Sept. 7.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Dealing with Diggs may already not be worth it for the franchise, according to Perry.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cIt all sort of adds up to, there\u2019s a lot going on with this guy for a guy who doesn\u2019t look like a No. 1 receiver anymore,\u201d Perry said.<\/p>\n

On NBC Sports Boston\u2019s \u201cEarly Edition,\u201d Perry echoed the same sentiment after being asked if Diggs is worth the \u201cheadache.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cHow severe a headache is it? Because if we\u2019re talking a migraine, if it turns into a migraine, I\u2019m gonna say no. I just don\u2019t think he\u2019s a No. 1 receiver at this point in time,\u201d he said. \u201cLet\u2019s rephrase that: If he\u2019s a headache, in my opinion, not worth it. He\u2019s a No. 2 at this point in his career. I don\u2019t think he\u2019s going to be a thousand-yard receiver.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the press conference on Thursday, Vrabel didn\u2019t address Diggs\u2019 comments specifically, but he noted that the veteran pass-catcher has \u201cbeen out here almost every day.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m excited of where he\u2019s at and we\u2019ll see when Week 1 comes, but he\u2019s going to practice today,\u201d Vrabel said. \u201cHopefully, he helps us in the red zone, but we can\u2019t predict the future about Week 1.
