The approach would involve gene therapy and an implanted ultrasound device to detect and modulate activity in modified cells.<\/p>\n

Altman confirmed the venture is still in early stages and could evolve. He expressed interest in developing brain-computer interfaces that allow direct interaction with AI like ChatGPT. Merge Labs is competing with Elon Musk’s Neuralink<\/a>, which focuses on electrical signal-based brain implants.<\/p>\n

According to the IndexBox platform, the global neurotechnology market, including brain-computer interfaces, is projected to grow significantly, driven by advancements in medical and cognitive enhancement technologies. Merge Labs is reportedly seeking $250 million in funding at an $850 million valuation, with backing from OpenAI’s ventures team.<\/p>\n
