Statewide school ratings for 2024 and 2025<\/a> were released Friday. Overall, Dallas ISD earned a B.<\/p>\n

In the DISD, 60 schools earned an A, double the number in 2024.<\/p>\n

Another 103 scored a B, 49 earned Cs and 14 got Ds.<\/p>\n

Two campuses received Fs, down from 24 last year.<\/p>\n

Failing campus grades can trigger significant consequences if the school doesn\u2019t improve quickly, including a state takeover.<\/p>\n

The district\u2019s B-rating is an improvement after receiving a C for 2023 and 2024.<\/p>\n

How are schools rated?<\/p>\n

The state\u2019s A-F grades are based largely on standardized test scores. The formula takes into account three categories for the grades: student achievement, school progress and \u201cclosing the gaps.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cStudent achievement\u201d considers students\u2019 performance on the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness, or STAAR, tests. For high schools, it also weighs graduation rates and other metrics.<\/p>\n

\u201cSchool progress\u201d takes into account the improvement students made year over year, or how well they did in relation to comparable campuses.<\/p>\n

\u201cClosing the gaps\u201d looks at how schools serve students with heightened needs, such as those living in poverty or receiving special education services.<\/p>\n

Most of the grade, 70%, is based on either student achievement or school progress \u2014 whichever is the higher grade. \u201cClosing the gaps\u201d makes up the remaining 30%.<\/p>\n
