Leon Bailey will not feature for Aston Villa against Newcastle United.<\/a><\/p>\n The winger is in talks with AS Roma <\/a>over a move away from the club, expected to be an initial loan with either an option or an obligation to buy.<\/p>\n Bailey<\/a> is in the final two years of his contract with Villa and had been widely expected to depart this summer.<\/p>\n He struggled for form last season despite shining in 2023\/24, when he played a key role in helping the club finish fourth in the Premier League.<\/p>\n In the last campaign, he started 14 league games and scored just one goal across 24 total appearances in the competition.<\/p>\n He may have played his final game for the club, as Emery confirmed in Friday\u2019s press conference that he will not be involved against Newcastle.<\/p>\n \u201cHe is not available for tomorrow because as well he is in talks with the possibility to leave,\u201d Emery said. \u201cWe are going to accept in case he is leaving and in case he is staying here as well.\u201d<\/p>\n Bailey joined Villa in the summer of 2021 as one of three players signed to replace Jack Grealish<\/a>, alongside Danny Ings and Emi Buendia.<\/p>\n Since then, Bailey has made 144 appearances for Villa in all competitions, scoring 22 goals and providing 24 assists.<\/p>\n What do you make of the news?
