{"id":15042,"date":"2025-06-26T01:51:07","date_gmt":"2025-06-26T01:51:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/15042\/"},"modified":"2025-06-26T01:51:07","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T01:51:07","slug":"laporta-hits-back-at-athletic-club-reaction-over-nico-williams-pursuit-dont-think-its-appropriate","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/15042\/","title":{"rendered":"Laporta hits back at Athletic Club reaction over Nico Williams pursuit &#8211; &#8216;Don&#8217;t think it&#8217;s appropriate&#8217;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Speaking to the media, Barcelona president Joan Laporta opened up on Athletic Club\u2019s reaction over the Catalans\u2019 pursuit of Nico Williams.<\/p>\n<p>By this point, it is clear that Bar\u00e7a are gunning to sign the 22-year-old winger from the Basque club, with an agreement over personal terms already secured.<\/p>\n<p>The La Liga champions plan on paying his \u20ac62 million release clause next week before the deal can be made official.<\/p>\n<p>However, <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/athletic-club-want-la-liga-to-block-barcelonas-move-for-nico-williams-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Athletic Club are planning to take the matter to La Liga<\/a> to try and block their homegrown player\u2019s exit by citing Barcelona are not in compliance with the Financial Fair Play rules.<\/p>\n<p>Laporta reacts<\/p>\n<p>Expressing his dismay at the situation, Laporta said: <strong>\u201cWe don\u2019t have bad relations with Athletic. In recent years there have been a series of misunderstandings and incidents, but I don\u2019t think that\u2019s why Bar\u00e7a can be said to have bad relations with Athletic. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cIn this sense, I don\u2019t understand it (the unease) because the reactions that they are having, with all due respect, everyone should focus on their own thing.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cI don\u2019t understand Athletic going to talk about Bar\u00e7a to La Liga, I don\u2019t think it\u2019s appropriate, but they will know what they are doing,\u201d<\/strong> the president stated emphatically.<\/p>\n<p>Regarding the club\u2019s financial situation and their return to the 1:1 rule, Laporta added: <strong>\u201cWhen in doubt\u2026 We are working to be in the 1:1 rule, which in fact we were in the winter market.\u201d <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"702\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/us\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/06\/athletic-club-v-rayo-vallecano-la-liga-ea-sports-1024x702.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-170643\"  \/>Barcelona will sign Nico Williams next week. At the moment I think we can sign normally. Obviously, we have to comply with certain parameters and we are doing so. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWith the fulfilment of these parameters, we will be able to sign the players we want to sign.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>On transfers<\/p>\n<p>When pressed further about Nico Williams, Laporta firmly redirected the questioning by saying:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cLet me not talk about names. We are attentive to all the opportunities that appear on the market. We took advantage of an opportunity that arose for Joan Garcia. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cAll those that the director of football tells us the club can and wants to deal with, we will try to do so. Whenever we see a market opportunity, we will take it. I\u2019m not going to talk about names.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Laporta also offered an update on <a href=\"https:\/\/barcauniversal.com\/barcelona-out-of-favour-star-expected-to-complete-loan-exit-on-friday-report\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Ansu Fati\u2019s expected departure<\/a>, saying: <strong>\u201cIf everything goes well, this week we could have very good news and he would go to Monaco.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Also providing an update on the Spotify Camp Nou return, he added: <strong>\u201cIt is planned that on 10 August, for the Gamper, we will be back home. You know that it will be with a limited capacity, the capacity we can have at that moment. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u201cWhen we return, in the first official match, it will be with more and more seats.
